That’s correct. I do this to bake in any necessary space so that the clip will always precisely start on the grid. Sometimes the clip can start before the grid. Consolidation isn’t needed when this is the case so you can just trim the clip to the starting grid line. That being said, you can still consolidate after you’ve trimmed to create a new clip that will always start on the grid.
Thanks for the awesome info in this video. So what if I want to tighten the actual gridlines to match the transients without having to move the clip? I know there's a way I just can't remember how. Beat Detective?
Thank you for your kind words and support! That would indeed be beat detective using ctrl+i where you want to create grid markers, but I’ve never used it. I’ve only ever aligned to the grid this way and after having done so for many years, I can do all of this in around 20 seconds.
I set the bpm and im sure its right. I time tempo tapped it and put it in logics bpm counter to make sure. The beat stays aligned on grid until later in the song then falls off. Cant find out why this Is
It’s either that you’re minutely off and eventually it desyncs, or the beat was edited free form and there’s a part that is slightly off in an edit. I’ve seen both of these cases a ton. Also if you are using an mp3, sometimes conversion from lossless changes the speed very slightly so you end up with a decimal bpm. You’ll just have to keep guessing and checking if this is the case. Start with .25 increments and dial it in from there. I also don’t trust bpm counters a whole helluva lot. I’ve seen them incorrect many times.
best tutorial on youtube
you did an amzing job teahing me man
much much appreciated
You’re awesome. Thanks man. Learned a lot here.
Consolidating the track here simply added silence to the beginning of the region so that the region starts on the grid, correct?
