It is a secret, there's a door there where you can open it after doing the puzzle. The hole is behind that radiolaria waterfall where it will lead you to unopened portal where it is linked to "Whisper of The Worm" Exotic mission vex portal.

Also you can use the ledge before the orb just drop down and jump swing using sword l..you can see the moving big doors
