Great content and interesting take on how sensitive the PAC 12 may be with their approach to building; having been through that mass exodus experience.
Two thoughts here on thinking outside the box:
I like the idea of incorporating some type of promotion and relegation system, by where teams can move up and down between the PAC 12 and their respective conferences (Mountain West & American) based on their performance over a season. I would suggest that Oregon St & Washington St bring up 4 from the Mountain West and 4 from the American, and then move 2 teams down and invite the same number up based on performance (from each conference). PAC 12 would begin with 10 teams.
The teams that I would initially invite from the Mountain West would be:
Boise St
UNLV
San Diego St
Fresno St
The teams from the American would be:
UTSA
Tulane
Memphis
USF
The Mountain West could Also extend invitations to build up their membership. Consider programs like Montana, Montana St, Cal Davis, Portland St
Second thought:
Invite 4 from the American to get into Texas and Louisiana, extend invitations to Boise St & San Diego St, expanding TV markets.
Regarding other sports, I would like to see a creative approach to keeping them all regional. Work with the schools that have left on an alliance etc. Separating the Olympic Sports from this model.
Also, thank you for the take on giving the Mountain West Schools time to build their athletic operating budgets as well to compete, Should they not, then it would make sense to make the best possible Mountain West possible without say a San Diego St and Boise St.
Keep it up fellas!
Driving up from CA wih my daughter I stopped in Roseburg, OR at Burrito Vaquero for dinner after striking out at 2 other spots that were closed or too sketchy. We ate inside and I've never had more regret not ordering something than watching them come out and make fresh Guac tableside for the people next to us. It looked sooo good, but we'd already finished eating and my 9 year old wanted to go back to the hotel pool. Still on my list for the next time I'm driving through...it's been 5 years LOL.
NBA players are so unlikeable. The players act like children. They seem to try like 50% of the time.
The opt-in reverse merger is the way to go, but I don’t think there’s any chance the cutoff lands at eight teams. The lower teams are not going to agree to an unrealistic benchmark. The natural breaking point for that negotiation is the requisite league majority to vote it through, so maybe you end up shedding two or three schools that can’t keep up.
EXACTLY - it has to be at least 9 teams to vote to dissolve the MWC and join the P2... 10 teams would result in an even 12 in the "new" P12... dump Nevada, and Hawaii (they have no viable "big time" college football stadium)... it may need to be decided to also dump SJSU (they also have a rinky-dink stadium, and it would make a more viable environment to get Cal & Stanford back if the ACC situation doesn't work out for them).
when i was a kid we had bottle rocket, roman candle and firecracker wars on the 4th and new years
What administrator is going to go for a relegation model unless guarantees outsized returns, it is like you taking a job that your pay may drop to like 10%-20% any given year with no idea might get back.
Good to hear that youth baseball is killin it in Oregon. Feed that beav pipeline!
Who song and Larry’s in Vancouver ,wa. Does a table side guacamole currently Puc!

FYI. There is no PAC 12 anymore.
