I think with all music what you love is not the people in the band their look, their fans, how ppl perceive them, where they live, what they do elsewhere. It’s about the meaning in the songs, the lyrics and rhythm that developed from their personal experiences and the connection you feel with that. Over time the band changes, music changes, the world changes. But the songs are timeless in how they make you feel when you listen to them.

I don't know how I feel about the autotune, but, I like it better when an a singer that I know can actually sing uses it. Like, the harmonies at 1:28 really use it perfectly. I still think I would've preferred to hear Tyler sing without it, but, it still sounds great. I'm glad that he phased it out a bit toward the end. Also: 2:47, that's some heart-wrenching shit.

As another producer, I can sure as hell tell you this is a vocoder. Its a vocal effect many artists use. A vocoder can be routed in a way to re-pitch a voice. My guess, which I could be wrong as there are many ways to achieve this affect, is he put his voice through a vocoder that plays the same notes he sings. Auto-tune doesn't make your voice sound as robotic as this does.

This isnt autotuned. Autotune is designed to edit a person's voice so every time they miss a note or change pitch strangely, it doesn't show up in the final product. This is an effect or purposefully overly tuned to make his voice sound weird (the opposite of what autotune is for).
No, it is Autotuned. Because Autotune is the name of the software used, not a weird word to describe the effect or technique. It's a pitch correction software, but when you raise the gate and turn it way tf up, you get a weird robotic sounding effect. Same stuff Cher did way back in the 90s and artists like Lil Wayne and T Pain made into an entire aspect of their sound.

I think with all music what you love is not the people in the band their look, their fans, how ppl perceive them, where they live, what they do elsewhere. It’s about the meaning in the songs, the lyrics and rhythm that developed from their personal experiences and the connection you feel with that. Over time the band changes, music changes, the world changes. But the songs are timeless in how they make you feel when you listen to them.

As another producer, I can sure as hell tell you this is a vocoder. Its a vocal effect many artists use. A vocoder can be routed in a way to re-pitch a voice. My guess, which I could be wrong as there are many ways to achieve this affect, is he put his voice through a vocoder that plays the same notes he sings. Auto-tune doesn't make your voice sound as robotic as this does.

This isnt autotuned. Autotune is designed to edit a person's voice so every time they miss a note or change pitch strangely, it doesn't show up in the final product. This is an effect or purposefully overly tuned to make his voice sound weird (the opposite of what autotune is for).

No, it is Autotuned. Because Autotune is the name of the software used, not a weird word to describe the effect or technique. It's a pitch correction software, but when you raise the gate and turn it way tf up, you get a weird robotic sounding effect. Same stuff Cher did way back in the 90s and artists like Lil Wayne and T Pain made into an entire aspect of their sound.
