I call this arc the C’rizz arc, it ends with absolution and the girl who never was is the start of the mila arc. The mila arc being the 6 and Charlie stuff (which you should absolutely talk about)
You can kinda tell that once we got to Absolution, Big finish were ready to move on from their older companions and storylines in the monthly range, and rebooted itself for the new series, instead of trying something crazy like zagreus did.
Samson and Gemma are Big Finish original characters which _almost_ always means they'd just look like their voice cast. So a young Lee Ingleby and Lizzie Hopley would at least be a decent educated guess.
Hey - I just want to say I was wrong when I said there was 295 queer characters in Doctor Who - there is 297 instead. Personally I still don't think it's enough. If it was up to me there would be 10008.
Love these videos on the 8th Doctor audios. Disappointing that I cannot find Part 2 of this particular video. Have subscribed so hopefully if and when you do make part 2 I can watch. The Mary Shelley arc video was particularly good.
I've just started on the 8th Doctor Adventures as my intro point for Big Finish, and these videos have been great at giving me a quick rundown on what came beforehand. Thank you. P.S, I may need to hurry up and finish the first season of audios before you start on them, I've been listening at a very casual rate so far.
Thanks I appreciate it. No worries there. I'm moving at the moment and I'll be going a little while without internet so gonna have to put the bigger videos on hold for a while. I'm going to try and put out some shorter and easier to produce ones but thats going to depend on how busy I get and how fast the McDonald's WiFi is
I feel like the Timeless Children has ruined Terror Firma for me slightly, because I recently gave it a relisten and couldn’t help but make comparisons. Humanity has been almost wiped out by a classic Doctor Who villain, the Doctor discovers that a secret past was stolen from them. The Doctor struggles with this revelation for a brief amount of time before swiftly moving on. It even ends in a showdown with the Doctor holding a weapon that can wipe out all life on the planet within an instant. Granted, it’s marginally better in that the hidden history doesn’t completely mess with the show’s foundations, and the Doctor doesn’t cowardly hand off the self sacrifice to someone else, but still, the vibes are just too similar for me to ignore.
Terror Firma had the Doctor and Charley being _too_ flippant for me in the beginning. I get that it's meant to be subverted by the reveal, but it just killed the story for me.
I get it but they were setting a tone so they could subvert it. I know davros and the daleks usually demand terror and respect but they're happy to see them this time becaise it's proof that they are back in their own universe and the doctor always beets them anyway, but as the story goes on the farcical tone is slowly removed like a brilliantly covered sheet being removed from a grotesque statue, as the Doctor's confidence and grasp of the situation is stripped away. The 8th doctor is usually the most annoyingly confident so its nice to see someone remove the smirk from his face and make him have an existential crisis
thank you for this lovely series so far! I ended up picking and choosing my way through this post-divergence arc so it is great to hear about the stories I have missed! surely you will be moving forward to the Lucie arc after too long...I have each of the stories from seasons 2-4 since I was wanted to do a bit of a deep dive into them myself. if you are looking to ... save some money while listening to this next series ... let me know! sharing is caring! can't wait to see more from you Aus Who
Theres some undeveloped stories in the next one but there's also a couple that are instant classics. The last one with 8 and charley us essential listening in my opinion despite the terrible attempts at Australian accents. Honestly if they did the same to Irish or Scottish or even French characters people would be pissed
I love this era of 8th monthly’s mainly cause Charley is just iconic crizz could have been so much more though wonder if the divergent era wasn’t pulled to a close early they would have gone more into crizz n 8ths vibes
I get the feeling that 8 really doesn't like him. He takes every opportunity to be passive aggressive and at times just plain cruel and theres no way he could know about him wanting to kill them and all the stiff he gets up to while him and charley aren't around.
@@shortangel333 I’m hoping with these further adventures box sets we get some Samson n Gemma like we have Lucie n Charley so far n I’m guessing Tamsin is on the table for them it would be cool to get some Mary Shelly Samson n Gemma and maybe some crizz too
You want me to leave a comment requesting the cover of star trek episode? Absolutely. One idea would be your favourite episode from every season of Star Trek followed maybe by your least favourite episode from each season. I'd find that very intrueging.
@@budboom7087 no but there's a brief mention. The doctor wanted to ease Mary into it so decided to take her for a short hop in space taking her from the villa to Vienna to meet Gemma and Samson. But he accidentally got the year wrong and took her a good 50 years into her future.
It is, I like that aspect of it I really should have gotten that across. Wjat I don't like is that it's based on nonsense. New planets don't have functioning ecosystems work complex organisms. It takes millions of years for life to even form. On earth it took 3.5 billion years to become multicellular. That along with the pseudo-science bs that grifters use to con people out of money in the real world, just ruins it for me.

I absolutely love memory lane. It's probably my favorite from what I like to call the welcome home arc.

Yeah I usually do that
Soooooo Ben and Polly are a decent stand in, lol.
Time works is one of my favorite, my favorite moments when 8 started talk about 7 and explaining why 7 wanted to regenerate into 8

Must have missed it there

Thanks. Sorry just moved. I'm getting back to these ones soon just haven't had much time to do my youtube stuff.

Great video!
I’m currently working my way through the Ravenous box sets. Can’t wait until you start on the 8th Doctor’s later stories!
Looking forward to it but good go's theyre expensive. I have all of dark eyes and doom coalition but I'm hoping to be monetised before I do ravenous.

TARDIS wiki says Gemma and Samson appear in Short Trips Prose that came out after Terror Firma. So... yeah they got two more stories.
Not enough. It's an entire lost era that they just invented and then didn't do much with

Thanks. Next 8th doctor video is coming. Also doing one about its a sin.
To be fair, it's not like uncanny doppelgangers is something original to Big Finish. Remember Ramon Salamander?
Yeah true
