Thank you a bunch for showing how to get to the starter. You saved me a bunch of money. I had a problem with the starter not activating and the mechanic said I need to buy a new one. I cleaned the starter and all connections and now it's working fine. I guess today you need to put your hands to work, and why not when you have such helpful videos. Cheers 🍻
Thank you!!! When you dropped that part though, I was cussing for you. It’s such a gigantic pain and frustrating when that happens. The video is so easy to follow and instructions were so thorough that even this girl could replace the starter. Thanks again!!!
I have an 09 but all the 06-2010 videos suck so I watched yours which is by far the best and most helpful. Thanks so much. It is very similar/exactly the same as the 06-10 series

Awesome video! Gave me the confidence and familiarity to replace the starter in my 2005 Accent. Also loved the 'test pattern / stand by' moment! LOL You are an excellent teacher & mentor. I've subscribed. Thank You so much, cheers!
Thanks for the very helpful video. On the 2001 Kia Rio, the starter motor can only be taken out from below the car after removing the lower intake manifold bracket. There is no way to take it out from the top. Also, the starter has three bolts, two of them from the driver side, and one from the passenger side. I didn't have to remove the shift linkage and speedometer cable either.
THANK YOU! I tried to remove it under the car because I didn't want to remove everything (not a mechanic). It was just the air filter! Btw, it works on a Tucson 2007 but you only need to remove the air filter and you see the 2 bolts. You need to go under the car to remove the connection still left on the starter.
Great video, thanks! I cracked up 3:30. I did this on a 2010 Hyundai Accent manual transmission. Some of the clips were a little different and I ended up taking off this 4 bolt bracket that was right in front of the starter. Also, my starter only had 2 electrical connections.
Hey!! Thank you for the video, I am having trouble removing the shifting cables (manual transmission). I've only been able to remove the four bolt bracket it's attached to. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it!
Hey! That is a good question, lol. Turns our you can't get any miles per gallon if the car doesn't start! Also, my plan is to start shutting the car off in traffic and long lights. Now that I have a new starter that I can trust, I'll be starting this with the next fill up.
That's the thought. I know that idling at long light or in traffic is using gas, so why not just shut it down? I'll be uploading an update in the next few weeks, since I haven't since July or August.
on this accent you are working on, is it annual or standard? Curious if it is the same on the shift linkage you mention that you have to remove. I will attempt replacing on a manual transmission.
What is the point of that ground cable, where does it go... the chassis is already grounded to the block which is connected to the starter via the two screws that holds it in place...just as extra ground to make sure it gets plenty of juice?

If you could answer this question that would be awesome..... I just replaced my starter on a 2001 hyundai accent and when I start it it makes a grinding/ screeching noise... do you have any idea what that could be... thanks in advance
Really hard to tell without hearing it myself, but I would suspect the starter is to blame. Double check that it's installed correctly and bolted down properly. May be misaligned somehow. I would definitely start there.
I just changed mine and it is actually way easier to fix than shown in this video. I got mine completely swapped out in about 45 minutes or so. if you need any help or have any questions i can explain it to you and send some pictures of what i did
@@dirtbikegod121 hey! I know it's been a while since you posted, however I am having trouble removing the shifting cables and am wondering if you can offer me some insight!
Good video to get it out but the holes on the starter and the holes on the motor don't line up to get it back in and it certainly doesn't go back in as easy as you did it, so if anybody wants to try this just know it want be as easy as he made it look, the starter holes don't line up to put screws back in!
'Fasteners' = bolts Clean the cable connector and gound mating surfaces for good electrical connections before installing the new starter. Rookie videos tend to leave out important details.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll be using your comment during my livestream this sunday night, episode 39! Hope you can check it out.
Thx for this video it helped my little brother save alot cash. He payed for the new starter and I did the replacement with the help of your video.
Bro you are the mvp! Took an annoying project and turned it manageable

Very nicely done. I have a 2010, manual transmission, and things are harder to get at. The electronic control unit is mounted to the air cleaner box.

This was super helpful, thank you! Working on a 2002 Kia Rio and this is the best info I've found.
I said harbor freight hammer as well just before it popped on the screen. Lmao. Great job bro
A lot people think that's all harbor freight sells. All their hammers come in different shapes and sizes. Some can be used as a ratchet too.

Watched many auto repair videos,,yours was get to the point,, excellent!
Is the starter at all accessible without taking all these things apart just for the purpose of tapping on it?

Thanks I don't need it yet but this will help. I only know i did it right if I am bleeding somewhere.
Thanks for the excellent video. Do you still remember the part # of the starter?
Show a video on how to replace the starter on a 2010 Hunday accent. Also, how to check the starter relay.
Thank for excelent video How long do you thing need? Maybe 2 hours?
Hey Angel, thanks for the comment. I hope to talk about this during my live stream tonight at 7pm EST. Episode 15 Sept 27.

That banjo came on and I pressed like so fast! 🪕
I have a '06 Rio. I'm wondering if this could all be done from below the car instead of above? Hmmm.... 🤔
Excelent job and explication
Thank for your helpful information

Stupid question- Can this be done more easily from underneath? Without removing all those other components? (except for the battery cable of course!)
Maybe, but I doubt it. Besides, who wants to climb underneath a Kia Rio?
@@GettinJunkDone I did it from underneath on an 05 accent. Wasn't that hard and you did not have to remove all that other stuff.
Is there a way to check if your current starter is bad before replacing it?
Put jumper cables on it
@@ninjanerdbjjandfitness9544 then what
The starter will turn over if it's not bad
Joe, good video, but how is a new starter going to improve your mpg? Sorry, chessy I know, but it was just too good to pass up.

Nice. I will be interested to see the shutoff data after you get some time on it. I know that the new automatic systems work pretty well.

saved my life
Glad it helped!
Thanks but i dont see which 2 bolts u removed!

Why didn’t you include the wrench sizes you used?
Use the one that fits. On this car, you'll need a set of metric.

Is there any difference for the starter on an automatic as opposed to a manual?

They lined up before it was removed, they should line up to go back in. Anything in the way, that needs to be moved?
You have the wrong starter jackass
Looks easier here.
How much
Depends on the year make and model, most likely. I usually check places like amazon and rockauto for reference.
Did anyone here have to adjust the shifter cable? Car wont go into reverse. Reverse acts like first gear.
'Fasteners' = bolts
Clean the cable connector and gound mating surfaces for good electrical connections before installing the new starter.
Rookie videos tend to leave out important details.
You never show Exactly where the starter is mounted, you just remove it without showing where it's at.
Lol.. really.. 🤣
Any one who makes a video and doesn't state the year of the car should have a ghost pepper jammed up their tailpipe
