I don't like the missing gear lever, and I really don't like not having hard buttons to control the air-conditioning. Exterior styling is quite nice, especially being able to eliminate a sun roof and get carbon.
@@hkhvr13 A BMW gear lever can be used like a paddle shifter when in the left position. There were no complaints about the gear knob on the BMW forums I read every day, and I love it in my 2020 540i. They should have left it alone. I'm sure I won't be the only one to complain about the lever redesign.
I would be very annoyed if my G20 gear knob was removed and the temp controls digitised as ler the facelift. It's nice to have something solid there not just a nub.

From someone who had the M340xi. Not a fan, loved my gear knob, and the ease to switch from sport by kicking it to the left and moving it to the right for normal. Looks more like an electric car to me than a block....I understand that's where we headed; Nothing here says "WOW" switch from the old M340xi to the new. I will respectfully pass. Now the M3 that's a whole different topic, looks raw, block oriented, love it.
Screens that are on the panel look cheap, it would be way better to install inside the dashboard! But i know why they did it, made the production cheaper!
I feel like they spoiled the whole vibe by: - sticking that big screen in the dashboard without any kind of visual integration effort. - deleting the gear shifter. Would have liked to see a bit more refined interior as well. But a great facelift nonetheless. Hope the 6 cyl sounds at least as good as before though!
Will the added electric motor in the face lift of the M340i effect general tuning of the B58 engine? Or will the tuning potential not be effected at all?
First and foremost it has added a shittons of additional weight to begin with, so it did affect the tuning potential a lot. Presumably you will be able to squeeze a tiny bit more hp out of this, but it will never handle or brake as good as it was in pre lci. G20 was already much overweight..
I've got the G21M340i, and obv the big change is iDrive 8. The prob I have is that I already find iDrive 7 to be quite distracting, so I'm not sure I'd be wanting even more controls in the iDrive, and more screens to distract. It's getting to the stage where there seems to be little difference to using your mobile when driving. Of course there is voice control. Is that any better in iDrive 8 than it is in iDrive 7?
Try it in person. iDrive 8 is already implemented on current gen i4 and iX models. It's very sleek and efficient. imo voice controls are gimmicky and inefficient regardless unless used to turn on/off functions like AC, music, and ambient lighting.
Arent you going to say anything about that lazy cheap design of those displays? Hopefully Ill be able to snatch one before LCI or Im going to be forced to buy a 2 series...quite sad since I kinda wanted those rear seats and the 5 series is just too big :/

REMINDER: This new 3 series will still be missing several options due to the semiconductor chip shortage as confirmed by my local dealership .So if you order this car it be delivered with some options deleted from the car and BMW will give you a credit for those options .That is why I am keeping my fully loaded 2021 330i .Until this chip shortage ends and it may be three of four more years before it is resolved .Considering two of the main chip manufacturers are in Ukraine ,with the shortage of neon gas which also comes from Ukraine ,which is used to run these high tech laser machines that makes the chips .So it's going to be a long ride .And if you're fine with taking a new stripped down 330i. go for it .Because I am not .
I think it is a little misleading to have these demo models with the FULL MERINO leather interior, which is beautiful but absolutely not the norm for these models. They have to be ordered on an individualized basis and require BMW approval which can delay the ordering, production, and delivery process substantially.

Own a '20, I wouldn't have "upgraded" to this for free. Exterior-wise? Maybe yes- I like some parts of the facelift- but absolutely despise the lazy interior. That huge screen just looks incohesive and out of place, and I want actual buttons to control something you use all the time. And since I drive in manual mode 80+% of the time, only being able to shift with paddles would be absolutely miserable in some traffic situations. FFS bmw...
I don't like the way the 3 series looks. It doesn't even come with a moon roof. They ruined it! The 2023 Mercedes C class looks better on the outside and the inside. I guess I will have to get the Mercedes.

I have a M340i late 2021 model and I am not a fan of the face-lift. The front grill reminds me of that massive plankton eating fish, the interior display is too big and the gear stick...what gear stick, that looks like a light switch. The pre face lift has captured a perfect blend of functional aesthetics and raw power. Mine also had the option of a carbon roof so its not purely a lci option.
Idrive 8 has an horrible layout (it is totally not integrated in the interior) and graphics. I just heard that they will install it on the M240i as well. Unfortunately I ordered mine 4 weeks ago and apparently it will come with Idrive 8. I'm actually trying to cancel my order, I hope BMW will understand the disappointment and accept my cancellation request. I used to love BMW, but this poorly executed Tesla me-too is unacceptable. Finally, the 2 'boomerangs' really remind me of a Citroen logo. VERY BAD!

It’s boring AF now. Sometimes shot look good in markups until you see it in the real world. Real lighting. They literally had reached perfection up to 2022. Now they’re taking steps backwards. Only the ESIM might prove future proof if it allows CarPlay to always be on with its own cellular connection NOT DEPENDENT ON THE PHONES CONNECTION. And at this point we should be able to define what buttons we want on the IDRIVE circle

Fuck every other operating system other than Apple CarPlay. I’m praying the new ESIM allows CarPlay to just always be there in future cars and hide the manufacturers OS permanently in the background if desired. In 4-5 years when I trade my new X5 I will NOT buy anything without hard AC buttons. I’ll switch way down in style and buy a fucking Chevy with wired CarPlay and go back to usb😂 all for hard button AC. Although the Hummer would be badass. That’s also an option

That's exactly what i don't like, i can live with the screen, but i want physical buttons for climate and a lever.

Front lights are actually a downgrade from the previously available laser lights
