Good Job Ed, It looks fantastic. I like how my eyes widen and I get excited watching your tutorials, I learn things from them continually-thats why I have to watch them over and over again. Thanks Ed, You are The Man!!
Hi there, im just getting into airbrushing and I just wanted to let you know how much I admire your work, I love the way you make airbrushing look so easy. I get lots of tips from watchig your videos, keep up the great work.
Of all the videos I have watched for airbrushing lightning, this is by far the best one I have seen. Your approach is much more detailed and realistic.
I dont know why the actual fuck this is in my recommended 9 years after being posted but obviously the RUclips Gods brought us together and, holy shit! As an airbrush artist, I loved this video and the information and I just so happen to be working on a lightning piece right now that I now realize I'm just overthinking and can easily improve or fix the imperfections while maintaining the integrity. Thanks, Ed!
nice i like this one. It will be nice to see some videos with the wicked paint. I cant afford the other types of paint right at the moment so i cant wait to see what you can do with that paint. Your a good teacher ed!!
@edhubbs Doesnt matter :) My father wanted to begin with airbrush so I looked up your videos. Im 13 years and since my dad got an airbrush, I watch ur vids every day and try to do it myself :) Ur videos are AWESOME
LOL...I have watched this vid a few times now but I just noticed something Ed. I remember you giving me a hard time about listening for the "whistle".... at 9:35 - 9:40 I heard it...lol. I love the end result thou. Big Dog!
Do you do training courses? i just got started brushing, and i just finished checkered "ghost" silver on top of silver body. over reduced my silver for brushing the checkered pattern. looks good, now im toying with the idea of a satin finish. but im not sure. clearing it tomorrow. Do most of my spraying on golf carts. You do wonderful jobs sir, i watch your videos a lot. im trying lightning as i watch you. Impressed in Kansas!!!!
Glad to see you've recovered from the Poisson Oak attack ;) Excellent replacement video, more information and tricks in this one, since we all make mistakes. Looking forward to some tricks with Wicked, since I'm not much of a Urethane guy as of yet. Is that the Eclipse series brush your using? I'm curious as to why that one over the High Performance BC?
Hey Ed I just got my house of kolor paint kit you recommended the paint is awesome..I just wanted to ask what what ratio are you reducing your white for them fine lines..when I spray mine they are not as bright as yours I'm using a 1 part paint 2 parts reducer ratio with my air pressure at 45 psi...also do you you use the same ratio for your whites weather it be fine lines or shading...thanks for the help your work is great...I love them eyes you have up in some of your videos there sick!
ed, your videos are great, i need to buy a dvd for sure, just got my first DA airbrush and just learning how to use the dual action but i was wondering how do you like the wicked colors paints? whats the limitations of them?
I love your videos. I don't paint cars, but I do paint miniatues with an airbrush. Just curious as to what you mean by a candy paint? does that mean translusent paint? how would won make translusent colours besides buying them? a lot more thinner?
Thanks man..I haven't played with my kandy colors yet because I'm not sure how to reduce them I read online that is is 6 parts intercoat clear 1 part candy..then you mix that and then mix that 1:1 with the reducer? Is this correct..I'd like to know how you do it bacuse you paint seems to flow very nice
I'm getting close to sending my guitar away to have a Lightning Sky graphic applied. I hope the guy uses your technique of using the jagged edge to make the clouds. Would an experienced air brusher know about using guides to get a great cloud effect? I'd hate to insult him by asking if he uses guides or does it freehand. I realize some guys could do it freehand with great results, but the guide produces very realistic clouds.
How do I do such ultra fine lines? I love the way they turn out but I have problems with them... I am using a Pashee Talon, with #2 needle, gravity feed, and for transparent coloring I have a second pashee that is siphon feed ... dont know the gauge of the needle.
if i have a plain white and iam wanting it to turn out like the lighting.. do i need a candy color over the white to get that effect ? or can i use something else other than candy to get that effect ??
whicked job, hi Ed im a custom bicycle painter and have always paid an autobody shop to clearcoat for me. I want to start doing it myself, any tips on a reasonably priced spray gun for small jobs like bike frames? price range would be around $200 and under.Ill be using HOK clears over HOK airbrush and pinstripe paints. Thanks!
When you do the final fine line, do you have the crown on your brush? I've heard that taking it off can give you a finer line. Is there any truth to that?
just wondering what the board your working on is? I see the same thing in other videos and got curious is it just cardboard painted black or poster board ?
Lightning was my first ever airbrush paint job. It's easier than some people might think, and it's fun to do too. Great tutorial!

Thank you.
i dont do airbrushing at all but i just like to watch you do your airbrushing and the amazing skill you have
it takes a real artist to show that every one makes mistakes now and again and instead of hiding it, showed how to fix it
Sick! Reminds me of the Ride the Lightning album art. great work!
thanks for the videos and please keep them comeing, I am just getting started in the airbrushing and enjoy watching your videos.
Super Kool!!! thanks for taking the time to share your gift with the world!! keep up the good work .

@hockeyfreak043 You can use a over reduced base coat
@KursedInk It is just a aluminum panel.
@AirbrushFX All paints with isocianates are deadly. No I was not wearing a respirator when I was air brushing and talking, but yes you should wear one.
you are really good very talented you have taught me a lot I am planning to do lightning on my rc power boat with a dark blue background
@edhubbs Doesnt matter :) My father wanted to begin with airbrush so I looked up your videos. Im 13 years and since my dad got an airbrush, I watch ur vids every day and try to do it myself :) Ur videos are AWESOME

@hockeyfreak043 What are you applying one color over the other ? Are you wanting the underlayment color to show through the top color?
@78Revolutions LOL No worries man.
That is what I reduce it at but if the temperature is above 70 % you might want to reduce it a little more.

@dimebagcfh You mean the clear coat ?

@dcade30 ive had problems with there master series brushs and there CS so i finally picked up a iwata and love it!
@UrbanSportGuy Ya it is pretty simple.
Very cool. I will definitely try this.
Dagr is a good brush I personally find that it is bulky.
@bmxfreak1101 Yes it does give you a way finer line.
Do you do training courses? i just got started brushing, and i just finished checkered "ghost" silver on top of silver body. over reduced my silver for brushing the checkered pattern. looks good, now im toying with the idea of a satin finish. but im not sure. clearing it tomorrow. Hello I am wanting to get into airbrushing and I was wondering if you have to buy a special compressor for it. Or can you use a regular one?thanks
ed, your videos are great, i need to buy a dvd for sure, just got my first DA airbrush and just learning how to use the dual action but i was wondering how do you like the wicked colors paints? whats the limitations of them?
@petar298 Stay with it and it will happen for you.
I love your videos.
I don't paint cars, but I do paint miniatues with an airbrush.
Just curious as to what you mean by a candy paint? does that mean translusent paint?

do your research though. i got an iwata Kustom Eclipse CH. with a .35 tip. I still have trouble spraying super fine lines with it.
Correct, but it does not have the same look but yes it will work.
How do I do such ultra fine lines? I love the way they turn out but I have problems with them... I am using a Pashee Talon, with #2 needle, gravity feed, and for transparent coloring I have a second pashee that is siphon feed ... dont know the gauge of the needle.

@717YamahaR1 Yes I will be doing a better wolf video, but it will be for sale on my web site not on youtube.
