I've been to Grimsby a fair bit as my Grandad was originally from there and my Grandparents lived in Lincolnshire from the 60's up until they both passed away. Anyone who has been there is aware that it's suffered a lot in recent years, but there's still plenty of good things about it and I'm glad you showed that. This was refreshing to see.
@vorsprungoutdoors Did you know Mathew's chippy on Stanley Street does fish, chips and peas for the unbeatable price of £3? I think the cheapest in UK.
Enjoyed that Grimsby is run down but still a nice place it hasn't had the money invested for a long time. I go to a good auction there every weekend always a bargain and a good laugh with everyone there . Thanks for the video enjoyed seeing other parts of Grimsby .
I think that was a very fair video. I live in Grimsby and I'm working on on the Docks with the wind farm regeneration that you visited. We need a lot of regeneration in the area and hopefully we can get it. There is a lot of potential as you can see with Docks Beers and Cleethorpes but just need the investment. Hope you enjoyed your trip and see you again
Thank you for posting this video . I use too go too Grimsby and Cleethorpes many years ago when I lived in Louth Lincolnshire about 16 miles away ..please apologises if I got the mileage wrong ❤❤❤❤
Excellent video, it's really good to see some of the positives highlighted rather than just the negatives that many Grimsby videos focus on. It's a good town with great people and it just needs some investment and TLC. There are some exciting plans so fingers crossed 🤞 Thank you for posting 👍
Great video. Interesting you should say the docks would be great as a film set. It has been used as such. Atonement, This is England, Three Day Millionaire.
Great video of my beautiful little town, the derelict buildings on the docks where used as a setting for the film 'Atonement'. I hope you visited the Sweet Shop inside Freshney Place 😊
Looks like you had quite a long walk in Cleethorpes. The Greenwich meridian actually runs through Cleethorpes. If you keep walking straight on from the leisure centre you can't miss it. There is a globe and a plaque and if you find the right spot you are standing at roughly 0.0001 degrees west. Incidentally you visited People's park on a sunday. Not sure if it was open or closed but there is a indoor greenhouse type botanical garden full of plants and cacti from Central and South America. It gets quite warm in there though.
You didn't do the museums. The Fishing Heritage centre is great and the one under the Town Hall is also nice. If you'd continued your walk all the way to Tetney, you'd have found a great pub with awesome lunches. However, you summed the place up pretty well.
Ha ha just ambled onto the docks. Wondered how you did that. Went there as a kid. It was like a small town. The German on the picture was from the film, "The great Escape". I didn't know why it was there until I saw the manager's name - Steve McQueen. He was the actor portrayed in the image.
It has changed soo much since I left in 91 , some not good however the people of the `Town are second to none. Such a shame the Council have allowed it to decline soo much. It’s the people I love the genuine Grimberians not the people who have come in and given us a bad name. So proud to have grown up in the town and surrounding area.
If you ask for fish & chips in Grimsby you will automatically get haddock. In the tourist area of Cleethorpes they ask if you want haddock or cod. Reason being a lot of day trippers come from Yorkshire and are more used to cod.
best video of Great Grimsby Town I've watched.. none of this asking skag heads what's wrong with the town... their answers always the same, how they're always getting nothing but the shitty end of the stick...
Great video I moved to cleethorpes 15 years ago from the midlands and love it but Grimsby isn’t a place we venture to,amazing how 2 places so close are so different. You should have gone steels best fish and chips in the world,Becketts are average at best.
Hi, im from grimsby its a depressing place in my opinion and has gone downhill massively the past 15 years, i wouldn't recommend people come here there's far nicer places to go..
I hope he will do well which would be good for all of us. I remember Jürgen Klinsman‘s success at Tottenham which helped to reduce the anti German stereotypes more than any government campaign could have. 😅
@vorsprungoutdoors Tuchel is a great tactician. Next World cup semis or bust. England have reached 2 Euro finals, a World cup semi and in Qatar should have been in the semis as well as Nations league semis. Our time is due. We are like a fish almost rising to the bait and if a German drives us on to winning the World Cup I just hope there are no Russian linesman like in 1966. 😀
You must have heard of Bert Trautmann. A former German paratrooper who later played in goal for Manchester City and famously broke his neck in the FA Cup final but carried on playing? Incidentally I once flat shared with a German lady in Grimsby. Brilliant company. Nothing romantic but we split the bills and she was very teutonic at doing so. I still laugh at the memories of flat sharing with Claudia but she was a gem.
Its nice you are trying to show the good parts of the town but overall it's a shithole theres no shops open if you want good clothes its the internet or out of town if you want nice food there's probably only 1-2 good places to go so you end up having a day out in hull or lincoln lol there's nothing here literally nothing
@2.35 the reason the poundland shop is closed down (it's actually moved further down) is because that section of town is being redeveloped into a cinema, with fast food (probably) restaurants. Work should have begun, but it's taking it's time. The town itself is in the process of being redeveloped.
@@vorsprungoutdoors Oh ay up pal . If you ever come back to Grimsby, make sure you come watch the mariners! (Grimsby town football club). We always have a great atmosphere and its a great day out!

I appreciate your effort to highlight the more positive aspects of Grimsby. Lately, it feels like the focus has been mostly on the negative areas.

Oddly enough the guy narrating the video says the docks would be a good place to make a film. Wasn't Atonenment partly filmed there?

Parts of the old dock area is indeed being used as a film set. Docks Beers aren't so good, trendy hipster bar, there are better pubs in town.
Good to hear that about the docks. I was impressed about the enthusiastic vibe of the Docks Beer venue.
