So I take a train from Leeds, UK to Hull, UK, have to find the best Hull Pattie, try it, and make it back to the train station in time for my train out of Hull later on in the day. So will I succeed? Or will I fail? Find out in this video!

Hull is definitely a city I'd like to visit after watching this video. That pattie looked really tasty and I would probably opt for the gravy as it would go well with the mashed potato and sage and onion stuffing. Unfortunately, many city centres in the UK are quiet these days and shopping malls no longer appeal so I'm not surprised that many of the units had closed down. It seems to be the same story up and down the country. Yes, please take a ferry trip from Hull although I would highly recommend a cabin on the way back.

This was a fun video, it popped up in my recommends. I'm glad you enjoyed your day here in Hull.
That shopping centre is in the middle of one of the old commercial docks, Princes Dock (hence the name Princes Quay). It was opened around 1990. Since then the hip and trendy shops have moved to the newer St. Stephens, which is next door to the interchange. The marina and Queens Gardens occupy the site of two other former commercial docks.
You won't be able to get to mainland Europe and back in a day. The ferries run overnight, so you'd have to make a weekend of it for one or two days in Belgium or the Netherlands. In my younger days, before I was old enough to drink, I heard that people often used the overnight ferries as a venue for a night out (well, two), going over one night, coming back the next, and presumably sleeping off the effects when more sober travellers were enjoying the delights of Rotterdam or Zeebrugge.
If you do come back and want to spend a bit longer here, there's the Old Town where you can visit the Minster and the (free) Museum Quarter. And another local foodstuff is the so-called American Chip Spice that some of the local fast food places put on the fries. That was invented here for a local (long gone) fast food chain called Yankeeburger, and I don't think it's yet made it outside the city.

Often eaten in a bread roll or “bap”. This delight is called a bap pasty or a pasty bap. The word order depends on what part of Belfast you are in!

I’m originally from Hull living in Leeds and I’ve not had a Pattie for years and not really thought about them much but yours looked very nice with 😅 chips and the sauces. I think the Pattie and chips was a meant to be a cheap alternative for fish and chips. You forgot the chip spice that’s another Hull delicacy
The shopping centre Princess Quay on stilts located in one of the old docks was massive in its heyday day and was very very busy it had an amazing virgin media store over three floors but it has declined over the years and has been superseded by The newer St Stephens shopping centre next to the train station.. it’s a pity you didn’t explore more of the old town and the Ferns Art Gallery. You’re lucky to have had such a nice day weather wise too 😊 lovely to see a video of my home city though thanks for doing this.

Don’t forget the breadcake too. Princes Quay is not busy as St Stephen’s next to the station has taken most of the customers since opening in 2007.

You can do the dutch dash from Hull! Overnight to Rotterdam then coach to Amsterdam and back the same night.

Hull resident here, Princes Quay was THE place to shop when it first opened, since the opening of St Stephens in ‘07 and the lack of money being ploughed into Princes Quay and whitefriargate it’s now dead, top deck used to be amazing we had all manner of restaurants in there, decent shops quirky independent stores and big chain stores. We are a dead end of the m62 with no decent shops these days, nobody wants to invest. Won’t really matter what day you go to PQ, the most people you’ll find is in the primark

Ass a Hullian now living in France You made me hope sick as I used that Fish and chip shop Restaurant when in the city center. You passed Beverly Gate were the citizens of Hull refused entry to Charles the first so started the English Civil war and the King lost his head. Thanks for the memories.

Princes Quay used to be great, always busy and great shops - its a shadow of what it once was - say that for most of Hull City centre now

Great video. Hull looks like a nice place, not sure about the Pattie though. Next trip, how about a ferry to the Isle of Man for some Manx kippers?

The patty looked like a battered ice hockey 🏒 puck till you cut into it.😁 I’d have needed more curry with that, too much potato 🥔 overload.
The water round the shopping centre looked like it was dyed an intense turquoise blue, totally different to the harbour water, looked lovely though. Interesting.
How about a trip to the Isle of Man to try Queenies, they are Manx sweet scallops, one of their specialities and they have Manx kippers to try to, all from their local waters, plus they do chips cheese and gravy, one of their unofficial national dishes.
Thank you for the vlog, nice to see the sights.😊

That Hull Pattie looks like what they have in Chippy's where I live called a Homemade Fishcake, basically the same but if you're really lucky you get fish mixed in with the tater, we jokingly call them Tater Cakes.

If you can try and review 'Delias', Carrow Road, Norwich City
Its only open Fri and Sat and perhaps you may need to stay over.
I think it would get good views. Hope you are well bro

Stoodge is a good way to describe a lot of British food, sadly. I remember having the Sunday roast at Kew Gardens years ago, and they served the meat with Yorkshire pudding, chips, roast potatoes and mashed potato! Nothing else.

What the HULL was that!? 😂 Excuse my dad joke! 😊 You seem to have got your weekly amount of potato. This was an impressive, hearty amount of food. I'm always complaining, that you rarely have a sweet treat after your meals, but after having this gargantuan meal even I with a well-marked sweet tooth would have felt like Mr. Creosote and even an after dinner mint would have caused a disaster. 🙈
It would be very nice to watch if you went to Europe by FERRY. 👍😊
