  • Project Detailed by Axis Steel Detailing, Inc. - You can now insert point clouds into Tekla Structures 2018. In construction, the point clouds are mainly used in renovation projects to define the building or structure that is to be renovated. They can also be used to get the exact position of existing machinery, pipework or landscape that needs to be taken into consideration on the site. You can also use them for checking execution by importing them as build points into a model to be compared to the design.
    Compatible file formats
    ASCII ( .asc , .xyz )
    E57 ( .e57 )
    LAS ( .las )
    LAZ ( .laz )
    PTS ( .pts )
    PTX ( .ptx )
    Potree ( .js )
Trimble scan format ( .tzf )
    Supports:
    Picking/Snapping to Points
    Clip planes

Looks kinda fuzzy. There are couple of pretty annoying bugs in previous version. Hope Trimble fixed them in first place.

Is there a way to align a point cloud that is not georeferenced?

Hello Trevor! Yes you can do it but you will need to do it manually. Meaning you need to insert the point cloud and then find a reference point in relation to the model, get those XYZ coordinates, create a base point with those coordinates and then re-insert the point cloud.

dear sir, why when making IFC file and opening it by tekla again the bolts have disappeared. I asked some friends and they told me that tekla does not convert the bolts in the IFC file. is that correct?
