yes, they are right about amps vs volts... on live plugged in systems. The leads on a capacitor are very small and obviously can't deliver large currents (big wires deliver large currents on plugged in systems). So you are perfectly right in measuring volts. The zap you could get from them will sting, not kill and nowhere near any damage to you. It will just surprise you. So measuring with your voltmeter is perfectly normal and good to show others how its done. NOS tubes are your best bet for good tubes. New old stock, NOS, is available on eBay. A tube tester and the knowledge of the correct way to test the tubes will go a long way in helping you derive your own sounds, tones, that you are looking to create. Last bit of advice, old circuits, like fender 6V6/6L6 had a fatal design flaw to watch out for, make sure tubes are installed upright and not upside down because the heat rises from the tubes and if the rest of the circuit is subjected to that heat over time, the capacitors and resistors will go bad. Heat dries out the Caps, and bad caps over work the resistors, causing cascading failure. Good luck, and have fun y'all!!

Awesome! I have a Valve Jr. I modded the crap out of in '08 for more drive and way less headroom than my old Music Man 112 RD 65 is capable of. Always wanted to try a CeriaTone kit or a stripped Plexi circuit. Keep up the awesome content!
I had a valve jr I intended to mod as well. Never got around to it before I sold it.
@@GunsandGuitars Mine is a first gen with the 8 digit serial so it needed a lot of help. It was a display model at the local music store during their Christmas sale so I got the head for $80 and the matching cab for $50 with minor tolex imperfections.
Great job! I love it!
Thanks man!
Very nice match set.
You're really tempting me to try an amp kit
Go for it chad!
Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been watching this channel for a while now and ended up building my own Tele. lol
I might be a bit late here, but you might want to try your hand at building a Ruby amp first, they're quite simple, cheap and don't sound bad at all!
@@kyranlior1476 I haven't tried an amp kit yet, I've looked at the ones on cb gitty, but I'll definitely take a look at Ruby
@@chadzillaification well, it's based around a LM386 chip and it can be a really simple circuit, making it perfect for learning how to do mods like adding an EQ, an effects loop, whatever your heart desires
Time to get some water slide decal paper to make proper labels for the knobs. If you do, the marker will come off with alcohol or acetone.
I kinda like my silly sharpie effect. Don’t you?
looks great! good work.
'did a really lazy sanding job'
hey! are we related?!
For sure man. I hate sanding. Bare minimum to get by. Always.
MAn thats awesome.. You inspired a me and a friend to go to kld.. I am doing the jcm 800 kit and he is doing the bassman. Ill keep ya posted on how they turn out
Heck yeah! I want to know if those kits are any good!
Cool work on the life time guarantee man!
Another great and informative video. Did you use any sealer on the cabinets or just finished with the stain?
I didn’t do a finish coat. It would probably benefit from some poly, but I’m lazy and I love the raw look.
I would want to replace the grill cloth on the speaker for more of that mesh. It just looks better, would allow the two units to match visually and the grill cloth is looking like it is sagging.
Hope life on the road is good, respect your life style.
Looks awesome! I built something similar for my joyo but it was just a cabinet, it never even occurred to me to build a head unit too, I’m imspired. Btw you should have used the leather handles. 😋
Looks great!
Frick on a stick; this build came out great!
Thanks jay!
when are you going to do a handwired kit?
Just wondering if you could try and build a guitar from scratch using plywood because I’ve heard it’s really resonant
