Very helpful and useful advice! As the 11+ is a time pressured exam, a tip would be to read the question and options first and then to skim and scan the text in search of keywords!

What should you're child do if they read very thoroughly at the context though don't still can't get the text around their head?

Comprehension is a long game, I am afraid. Questioning your child about what they have read and getting them to write chapter summaries on a regular basis, will help.
