32-29 is actually the danger zone for road temperatures. At 28 the ice forms crystals on top and gives a better (not dry road but better) grip with the tires. At 33 degrees you’re close to the freezing point but generally it’s spray back from the tires still.

There is a reason why truck drivers need to drive for safety not for the load. Why risk your life to deliver a load that isnt going to get there safely? Take care of yourselves and park until it’s safe. It’s not worth dying for. I’ve been driving a long time and stop whenever I feel unsafe. I’ve been in too many dangerous situations to take unnecessary risks

Ms. Ellison, this doesn't happen very often. My mother-in-law lives about 30 mins. outside of Charlotte and she says they do get mild storms - 1 to 3 inches here and there or a little ice that stops traffic for a day. Storms like this maybe 1 in 5 years or so. The fact that there is another storm coming this next weekend is a double whammy and something not often seen. The snow/ice doesn't stick around. Usually the temp warms up and melts whatever is dropped within a day or so. Good luck with wherever you choose to make your new home.

I'm curious. This storm has been advertised for about 4 or 5 days now. Most of these people don't know how to drive in bad snow. Why are they even out in this now? They should have been better prepared and OFF the streets by now.. That's what common sense would tell you. I'm from up north, been driving for over 50 years, seen plenty of blizzards and I cant for the life of me figure out why people put themselves or others in harms way.

Funny, how the States knows these winter blasts are coming, YET they never seem to have enough salt & sand to put down on the roads. Then you have that 1 driver who thinks they are the best & safest driver out there, who ends up looking at their phones & causes major back ups.

This storm in particular hit many areas in the south that have VERY little snow removal equipment or salt/sand/crushed rock. Georgia gets some very light snow, nothing like this storm. It doesn’t have to be looking at a phone to cause a chain reaction of bad juju either- a split second look down for a drink or change the radio station has the same results.
