well I didn't meet Jenson but once there was a Vodafone-day in Budapest in 2012 then he was being there and driving an F1 2010 or 2011 McLaren.. after it he was staying in a minibus and waving to everyone and the minibus went very near to the wall and I was standing on the other side of the wall so he was just like 1 meter away from me :O those days.. simply amazing ;) i'm watching F1 only since 2007 but F1 wont be the same without Jenson, Massa, Kimi, Alonso, it was strange already in 2014 without Webber.. but than Ricciardo made it a bit better for me :)

Seb walked the title that year to no one's great surprise, but Jenson was a standout performer throughout the season and my support for him only grew after Singapore. Seeing this man split the dominant Red Bulls in Singapore convinced the younger me to root for him, and I haven't regretted a minute of it(even though I later became a Seb fan around 2013).
Truly a GREAT CHAMPION in and out of the car. Class and grace no matter the situation. Prime example of EARNING EVERY BIT OF HIS SUCCESS. The sport has no idea how much it WILL MISS HIM.

If this man was in the Merc today, he still would've done well, arguably a threat to Lewis. Look at him in the virtual GPs and sim races. He took it to Fernando who fought Lewis's Merc with a McLaren Honda. I still think Fernando and Jenson have it in them to be in the league of great drivers.
came back here after Vettel's retirement. Vettel was another gentleman like Button. I was quite sad when Jenson left in 2016, quite happy with that Monaco return. Vettel is my favorite more so than Jenson but I still miss him from time to time. Vettel's retirement will hit harder. Even Jenson who lost to Seb during the dominant days in 2011 "misses the finger".
Even though I am Australian and go for Dan Riccardo, it's a shame to see Jenson, Nico and Felipe go (he came back but which is a good thing). They are some of the very few drivers that weren't seriously stuck up. A lot of them now have the attitude of I don't care about anyone else
Come to think of it, Vettel towards the end of his career became something of an imperfect hybrid between Fernando Alonso, Max Verstappen and Jenson Button in terms of driving skill, speed (as an exciting, aggressive Red Bull junior), race craft (like Fernando in his final year), gentleman demeanor and goodness (like Button)
If a driver says he takes a year off it means that he won't really be back, Hakkinen had this same situation. And don't you worry, Massa tribute will be out as well!
The issue is, if McLaren is not competitive he will not want to come back to a bad car. On the other hand if they are competative, I can't see Stoffel or Fernando leaving a good car.
