Proud owner of this barrel. Great work and I would do it all over again!!! Amazing smithing bro! It is a work of art.
How much for crowning ? I just bought a new sprnigfeild garrison
I want mine done
What kind of accuracy? Any issues?
@@diablomantis8330no accuracy changes. Purely cosmetic.
Love the way it looks!!! Don’t like the delicate sharp edge of the barrel where it blends into the bushing. You do great work, thanks for posting.
Dude you are one sick gunsmith and refinisher! That is AWESOME!!!
Beautiful work mate! You're an asset to the sport!
That is Amazing my brother. Thats what i want my barrel to look like. Just a really nice Ergonomical look. Flows real nicely.
Work of art.. I usually never leave comments but felt a need to on your work
That looks awesome as hell, but it seems to me that edge is might sharp. Looks like assembly and disassemble, is would be real easy to nick that edge and its all over then....
I really admire your work, none of my local smiths even know what block and crown means. I'm looking to do something like this to my 45 AMT backup.
Love the work you do. A friend of mine showed me this video three weeks ago and tonight I just finished blocking and crowning the barrel of my Kimber.
Thanks for the good work and the inspiration.
For sure bro.
you certainly have a gift, very very nice!!! that looks so good on the 1911
What are you cutting this with? How are you assuring the crown is still square to the bore? Thanks.
thats so important... looks cool but it seems like the bottom of the bushing is countersunk/beveled more than the top which leads me to believe that it is not squared. i had my trp barrel 45 degree crowned by Dynamic Combat Solutions and they did a unbelievable job. Def indicated and squared. just saying
Minus the mirror polished bushing that's awesome. Great work brother
Thanks.
These guys do amazing work. Highly recommend them.
Thanks Ralph!
Im a machinist and armorer...that being said, that's a really sweet mod. Never saw it done before. You got my wheels turning now. I gotta get on the lathe.
Absolutely killer freaking reverse crown you did there man! Holy smokes that is seemless!
I really hope that last comment didn't come across as being rude, but the more I look at that barrel the more it's starting to look really nice
buttery smooth. good work man
that is awesome I don't understand why the dislikes if I didn't have a punisher compensator on mine I would like to have this done
Thanks man.
Its looks very clean I would like to have it done to my r.o. springfield 1911 10mm
The best thing I have done to my barrel in my 1911 build was polish the outside of it and polish the inside of the bushing and a lot of areas the action rides on. The more polished a gun is the smoother the function.
Luckily I took my time and fit everything as it should be and the gun does not rattle and functions smoothly. I got my rails on both side .061 and the barrel seat .077 which is spot on for the gun. Before I blued the slide you could not tell where the slide ended and frame began. After bluing the slide you can see it is very tight fitting gun.
These guns are fun to make and build one up. They are a work of art. The only thing that really pissed me off was the plunger tube springs and plungers would fly out of it when the safety was removed. I have a few Wilson Combat parts I am flirting with the idea of adding them into the build. The kit I got was the one Stealth Arms sells so I kept every part specific to the manufacturer but there are subtle changes they made to the over all gun. For instance they made the breech face hole and firing pin the same as a 9mm even though it was a .45 caliber that part is the same across their entire line of 1911 build kits regardless of caliber. The only negative thing to come from this is really being unable to use an original firing pin but honestly you could modify the original pin to match the 9mm version they make.
Honestly I trust Stealth Arms and they are very good with their customers and anyone who wants to build one of these or even buy parts from them they are made from some of the best materials. I cannot say enough good things about them.
you must have been in my 1911 class. I lost a plunger spring and then when I crimped it to get it to stop launching, I broke it. If you put a very slight bend in the spring, it'll stay in the plunger tube.
This is one of the nicer ones ive seen. Awesome work
Thanks man.
SinCityReview BHC SOLUTIONS Can you do this with a kimber pro carry ii? They are bushingless barrels so I'm trying to imagine what it would look like if it can even be done?
Life's A Game Yes, I've done quite a few of them. Just look up crowned bull barrel.
Looks amazing! Kinda want that in my life now.
Pretty slick. As Jamie41963 mentioned the end of the barrel is so thin a small ding and the effect is ruined. I would make a thicker bushing and flair the thickness of the bushing down to the slide with having a continuous radius across barrel to bushing. Just a suggestion. Keep your powder dry. Non Sibi, Sed Patriae.
Looks great!
Real Nice Look,
That is an awesome talent you have. Not to mention that is Beautiful barrel/bushing. Well done.
Absolutely gorgeous crown and melt!
Thanks buddy.
SinCityReview BHC SOLUTIONS We may need to PM about this! That really is a sweet job, and we may need to talk about doing this to one or two of mine.
Chris Blake Sweet, let me know man.
If the lockup and accuracy is still on par, you have done some amazing work to that barrel/bushing..!!
That looks so good. Damn.
Thanks, If you need anything done let me know. Barrels with bushing are $100.00 Bull barrels are $80.00
Proud to be the owner of that barrel!!!! Amazing smithing bro!!! You kick much ass.....
That looks unbelievable. Well done sir. I was going to go with the bushing compensator on mine but now I'm having second thoughts.
Your right, and just like any other gun once your done shooting, you clean it. Then it's shinny once more. Copper cutter takes the powder build up right off.
Yea my buddy runs battlefield Las Vegas. They have 400 full autos. I love going there.
That is absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks man.
Since that's pretty unique, the blocked, crowned barrel and melted bushing to start with.
I am sure this has been said a million times before but that looks amazing
That is one awesome looking freaking barrel dude. I love the look of that sucker.
By the time I got an oversized bushing, paid for shipping, and paid for your services that would be one expensive rim job.lol My dad is a machinist and still has a couple months of access to a shop before he retires. With the little bit of knowledge I have from a couple machining classes I think he could do this. Seems to me like a lathe would be the safest way to make sure it's perfectly uniform and doesn't effect accuracy.
Very nice. Love the one you did on my Colt Commander.
Beautifully done. This is one of the nicest modes I have yet seen. Just picked up a SR1911 and would love to do this. You video shows the final job, but are you willing to show how it is done. Once again, BEAUTIFUL ! ! !
Too many negative comments on this, did anyone consider this guy probably doesn't tear his shit up and mabey just target shoots or keeps it in his truck
Lol thanks buddy.
No fucking doubt. I dabble in personalizing my firearms, it's a pretty satisfying feeling when someone at the range comes over and compliments me on my work. Any gun guy that takes the time to personalize/customize a firearm, I would hope, has another gun he can romp on. There's show horses and work horses, I'm sure that this guy has both. 1911's are widely known for being show horses anyway. Not to write a book here but, he did say this was for a friend/customer. *In my opinion* this is a work of art, great job MK3. Anyone talkin' shit is most likely jealous.
Nice work on the barrel and sculpted so sharply.
That’s a work of art
Glad you like it.
Did you do the radiusing of the bushing/barrel with files or something else?
HaHa, worrying about radiusing the edges of the bushing, and the slide is dull of sharp edges.
3cressidas lets see your work
you do some of the most beautiful work to guns I have ever seen.
Forgot, Nice work, very tight and clean lines
Thanks.
Outstanding job! If you made the spring cap match, it would command the undivided attention of any bad guy!
For sure.
I put you vid on a 1911 forum also, there are alot of people that is digging your work it seems, hope it helps you out.
+mike 007 Thanks man I really appreciate that.
No prob, maybe if you get enough work from me spreading the word you could give me a little discount if I ever decide to do this in the future...lol
+mike 007 For sure sounds good to me man.
I would think that the hot gases and burning particles when the pistol is fired would damage that mirror shine very quickly.
That's awesome, I'm not a big fan of the costumer's choice in polishing the bushing and all but very nice work man!
Thanks bro, glad you like it.
Fair enough. I wasn't criticizing your work in any way. In fact I think you do nice work.
Thanks bro, and trust me that never gets old.
Not to my taste, but great polish and shape work there man.
Glad you think so.
Looks good. I remember reading how during WW2 soldiers would sand the fronts of their pistols to a shiny finish. This was for intimidation purposes to make the enemy focus on your weapon and share the sheet out of them. What you've created will work just as well..... just not from the side.
Cool, thanks for the info.
Well you do good work I will definitely be interested to see what's next
So, if I was interested in having this done to my Rock Island Armory FS TAC II. What needs to be done on my end? Do send you the barrel and bushing, etc?
I'm totally interested!
Mario Rodriguez I'll need the pistol. Here's our number for price quotes and, if you have any questions. Just ask for Charlie, Mike, or Jeremy. (702) 798-4570Here's the address if you need to send in a gun.SinCityReview5225 Wynn RoadLas Vegas, Nevada 89118
AWWW MAN!!!! Thats effin WICKED Bro! I'm buying an 1911 just that for now..... Bro seriously thats completely sick. Awesome work.
Okay you did it first. However, I do think moderation is key. You don't wanna go full blast on that deep dish like you do b/c when you pull back the slide, it looks messed up. It just looks cool when in non-shooting mode. Secondly, The way CSC and Nighthawk do theirs are absolutely beautiful and correct. I wish Wilson would take a gander. Wilson does do custom. Trust me. They just claim to do custom and they don't do customer request. They just build a production hand built gun that's all.
Dang man that is great, love to see how well that shoots. Cool stuff.
If you just drop your gun onto a table with the slide in the back position you will get a dent in the front of the barrel. In that portion the barrel wall thickness is paper thin
Martin Danze What kind of idiot drops their "gun onto a table with the slide in the back position"? That by the way is what this modification is for. If the pistol is dropped and lands on the crown of the barrel; the riffling will be protected from damage since it is recessed. Hope that helps you...
nice finish on the gun really nice looking gun. i am a big fan of springfields. i think they make the best production 1911 out there. best bang for buck.. mine is very reliable.
I also wanna tell Wilson and them custom makers that there is no such thing as a flush fit at the back of the pistol as they claim perfect fit, maybe on on the slide on the side. On the back, they just simply sand it down even to give you the impression that it's made right. Only the tight lines is what you should look at as an indicator of fit. Plus, CSC got the idea right when they say pistols with round top shoots lower, so you have to give them low sights with a flat top. Legendary company.
Looks awesome!
Thanks!
I have a TRP but not the operator model. Love a railed 1911
I agree with the guy below me that's a thing of beauty..and i'll probably follow suite with my delta. Awesome Job.
Thanks man

To be machined down bit by bit in order to precisely fit the barrel and slide perfectly.
Can't wait to get my 1911 done.

that does look pimp asf. gonna have to take my setup to the machineshop
Beautiful, I had no idea about this mod.
Thanks man I'm stoked you still love it. It's cool to hear back from you.
That's too nice. Very creative.
Thanks.
If you are unfortunate enough to have a quick look at the Barrel/Bushing of my TRP, The least of your worries at that point is being "intimidated"
If I had known about you in may I probably would have at the very least came and checked out your shop though. I was in Vegas and got married at the Luxor. I was only there for a couple days though and didn't have much play time. I really wanted to go to one of those ranges and shoot full auto's. There's nothing like that I know of near me in WI.
Yea I just put it in mine to show it off. My operator is a work horse and I treat it as such. I got tired of paying thousands for custom work. It cost me about $15,000.00 to start up with all the tools I have. You just need a mechanical/ artistic mind.
There's a couple things I'd like done as I can afford: THIS on my 1911; Re-crown my HiPower barrel and somehow tighten its fit to the bushing... not sure if that can be done without chroming or something to enlarge the barrel dia or if it requires a whole new barrel.
Thanks man, I appreciate it more than you know.
Absolutely positively gorgeous!
Thanks!
Yes, if you want to.
I appreciate the work but can't decide if I like it enough for my self
you need to do a vid of you doing it...
wear gloves when cleaning to keep body salts off metal also buff everything that touching underaction during operations. have springs cleaned and oiled and keep spare springs ..tight action. .when loading mag or release mag push in release so this will stay tight and last forever. buff mags oil keep clean.A well maintained 1911 is like a well maintained car the older it gets the better it is to use ...the connection between the machine and man is marvelous technology lasting impression. .Well cared for shot regular basis.
Exactly just melting off the hard edges to make the bushing look like liquid steel.
super intimidating thank you for the video
What's next ? Choosing some White Pearl Grips to accent the Black Armory Kote ? Maybe you could figure out a way to get the Armory Kote to fingerprint while your at it.
GREAT JOB, YOUR A MASTER.
Thanks Michael!
Yea I've been doing this for over 2 years, and brought this idea to light in the youtube community. Try to find someone who offered this before me, you won't...
Also with a 40 degree bevel the barrel is awfully thin on the outer edge but it sure does look badass. Are you a Gunsmith? If so how much do you charge to fit an oversized bushing and do this bevel and polish job?
All these years later and yes I’m going to inquire about getting this work done to mine. Please message

That's beautiful ! Fantastic work !
Damn man NICE work,I want to
Do smithing like that just don't know where to start as far as institutions that teach such work

Awesome work definitely have to have u do some work for me in the near future.
I guess, if that's your thing. I wouldn't want that done to any of my 1911s.
Can you do a loaded micro compact? I would love to have mine done!
Since the barrel is essentially a tad shorter, does that affect the accuracy at all? Since you removed material from the bushing, how much weaker is it? Have you done any torture testing after doing something like this to see how long it lasts or if it will fail?
That is awesome. I would love for you to do that to my Para.. Perhaps not mirror polish though.. My Para has more of a satin finish so it might look out of place.
Stupendous work brother. I may have to send my SA EMP4 Bull barrel to you (if I don't up doing it myself 1st.) I have a full length GR with reverse plug.. just need to crown & ball bearing polish mine. Looks fantastic sir, keep the vids roll'n!
Man that's amazing. In fact, all your work is amazing. If only you lived in my city I'd send you my kimber! I'm guessing you're not in Canada though and likely Nevada?
I have some questions. What is the purpose of doing this? Just looks,or does it actually serve a purpose in the shooting department? Also, what did you use to do this with? I think that mirror finish is AWESOME. I have a couple of revolvers that I am trying to get that mirror finish on the trigger, hammer and cylinder flutes. A Ruger MKIV that I am trying to get the flutes in the bull barrel a mirror finish.
Mainly looks, but it will protect the rifling if the gun is dropped on the crown of the barrel.
