I was also looking into using the Hudson step down cart tail lights as they are a pretty cool shape and are close to working the angle of the rear fenders. Nice choice.
I do have a really nice set of the smaller shield style taillights as well but I think I like these ones better. I would definitely like to get ahold of your Hudson friend. He might have other interior items as well.

Take a little off the tail light frame to fit the fender
I have thought about that solution. It might work and I have a second set of frames to experiment with.
