+RetroAdzz Obviously the graphics are vastly improved after almost 20 years, but they definitely added plenty of personality to the characters. In the original, they were just dragons, and there was little depth/personality to them. However, in the remaster for example @ 00:20 they gave him a mallet and carpentry belt, adding much more depth to his character, as opposed to being just another dragon. That's something that they could have added to the original to give depth to the dragons.

The Shadow of the Colossus looks more and more breathtaking with each remake but considering each time they're generally at the peak graphic wise anyways it's like going from a 95 to 97 to a 99. Impressive, but not such a massive leap.
Meanwhile, Spyro went from 50 straight to a 90 in one jump so the upgrade in graphics are way more striking.

you know, the one thing that was always weird to me as a kid was that the adult dragons were bipedal when spyro was a quadruped and so were the dragon statues they came out of. i like what toys for bob have done with this game and it's super cool to see the dragons come to life and how unique they've made them, though i do feel like I personally would've preferred the adult dragons to be more feral than humanised. their fancy attire makes spyro look so naked x) regardless the graphics look top tier and i can't wait to play this
Scottish Solgaleo some of the adult dragons were quadruped, just not many, I hoping they don't change them to all bipedal...
Idk, I kind of see it like, Spyro hasn't figured out his talent yet, so he lacks clothes/accessories that would reflect it like the others do. I also think they all can alternate between standing on two or four legs. Especially with that overdramatic death Spyro occasionally did when he spun around and fell flat on his back hehehe... My theory is also that it's an age thing with how they walk most of the time. Haven't worked out the kinks, but just of it is Spyro hasn't fully developed yet and as he grows, he'll be able to walk on two legs more comfortably if he wishes to do so.
Some of them look like they just learned to stand on their back legs, but are still a 4-legged dragon.
I mean humans start out on all fours and then we start walking with age. Maybe dragons take some time before they can master walking on two legs. He's got some growing pains to look forward to as those legs grow.
I love how they took the hideous blocky design of the originals and transformed it into eye candy of the highest caliber.
I was thinking they were just going to slap more polygons to the whole thing and update the textures. but it looks like they rebuilt the whole thing from the ground up using entirely new assets. o-o

Kittsuera they did. Ans painstakingly recreated everything so that it would feel exactly like the original.
It's a remake not a remaster. Remastering is just updating the graphics and textures using the original assets. Remakes build the game again from the ground up. Hopefully this helps clear it up a bit.
Hideous isnt the word I would describe the original, the original spyro games were the only spyro games I grew up with and whenever I see the blocky polygons the original game had I get overcome with nostalgia. In most aspects they definitely changed the games overall feel and quality of graphics but in the process of making the models more high quality they seem to have lost some of their original charm. The new version is certainly an improvement but the original version will always be the version I associate spyro with.
I said it many times and I'll said it again.
This is what all remakes should do, gameplay fedelity + some freedom to improve designs and locations.

Strangely enough, the angular shapes in the old games kind of made the creatures scarrier to me. (Especially in the area where the lights would go on and off.

It's not going to be 1 to 1 like the original games. As long as the changes have their own merits to them then I have no complaints.

Alrighty. If there were any models that didn't hold up, even nostalgicly, it was the magic crafters enemies. Whoooo... But man, they really did a good job bringing them to the modern era. Makes me happy.

If I remember correctly those were +1 life boxes right? The purple scales and blinking eyes combined with the 1up on breaking made me think it was meant to be “another Spyro” inside it. Sounds goofy on paper but that’s how it appeared. The new one is clearly something very different.

Damn, the designs look amazing for the dragons as well as the enemies! I love how the dragons of each homeworld have been outfitted with gear to reflect their jobs (Artisans, Peacekeepers, Magic Crafters, Beast Makers, Dream Weavers), such a cool touch!
Only one more month. Save your money, everyone. Cuz we're ready to buy this game.

When I was in around 1st grade I remember waking up early every morning and playing Spyro. It never saved so I played the same levels every morning over and over again. I now have some of the maps stamped in my head.

They have the music toggle confirmed in Reignited, you can switch between Copeland's original soundtrack and the remastered version.

Firstly, you used “remastering” in the totally wrong context. Nothing about the Reignited Trilogy is remastered. They’re remakes. Even the music. Someone else is doing the music and it will sound slightly different but it’ll be musically the same/similar. There is an option to toggle to Copeland’s original soundtrack though, and that may indeed be remastered to sound better, which is good

Hopefully I can help explain things in a way that doesn't come across as rude or needlessly aggressive...
While I agree that by today's graphical standards, the original style of the Spyro trilogy would be too plain and awkward, given all the flat textures and clocky shaping, it doesn't necessarily require a complete re-imaging of just about every key detail to make it look acceptable. The N.Sane Trilogy is a perfect example of this. While Vicarious Visions made many visual improvements to Crash Bandicoot such as model designing and detail embellishment, the overall product still managed to recapture the attractive aesthetic of the original. With this Reignited project here, Toys For Bob literally warped many of the designs and details almost beyond recognition. I'm not just talking about added environmental elements or a few clothing accessories, but the faces and structures of the characters themselves have been changed to the very core.
The thing is, I'm not at all a fan of the crash games, yet I was able to watch the promo content, fully able to identify everything without effort. Meanwhile, being a die-hard classic Spyro fan, I need to seriously stare at the screenshots for a minute and watch comparison videos just figure-out what half the stuff even is. The best way I can sum this up as is that, if the original games are underdone, these new ones are overdone...

I enjoy the fact that the game is more of a reimagining than a remaster. But, everyone has their own opinion of course. Thanks for explaining in a way that actually makes sense!

I must have never finished the game when i played it as a kid. I played it multiple times, but never got far apparently. I have memories of things up until 4:50. I still have heavy childhood memories, and I'm still excited for this, despite my lack of knowledge.
