Great video! Can I add that if you still have active Take Folders you are NOT ready to send your track for mixing: decisions must be made and audio must be cleaned up and rationalised. If you are still thinking "maybe" about your vocal comp, you are not ready for mixing.
I am having an issue while exporting midi from logic pro x. I split in to two separate tracks my piano (Left and Right hand) i export the midi as 1 file and when i go to Ableton to import if there is lets say an A and then again A the second note will be almost not existing. do you have any idea why is this happening?
Thanks for the info. I was able to export audio as AFF and import back into Logic Pro and open file. Oddly enough when I opened my reason daw it would only let me import 1 track at a time. Timing is way off and everything starts at bar one. Is there a problem with this particular daw? Logic Pro imported the whole project in track order perfectly
Hmm I’m not sure why it would be different with Reason, but to be honest, I haven’t used that DAW for years. Last file I used it it was just an instrument rack and didn’t deal with audio too so I’m a bit out of the game with that one!
Thank you! I though I found the way to export the markers from the logic pro x project. But doing what you have shown didn't help with even reimporting the same MIDI file Logic exported into a new Logic project. It just doesn't see the markers. The same with Ableton Live 10, for which I want to do the export from Logic. Could you suggest, what am I missing?
If I'm exporting MIDI files i created with ANA 2 software in Logic to someone who doesn't own ANA 2 software using Studio One, will my midi sounds carry over?
Dear James, I have to export more often than not a Logic recording session to Cubase (my DAW, since abandoned Logic). So if you work with take folders they won´t be exported properly. So i have to unpack the take folders into seperate tracks, rearrange and tide up everything before I export as AAF. That´s a lot of extra work. Do you know a workaround for that? Thanks and cheers
Hi! Thank you for the fantastic video! As others too, I have the problem that all my stereo files in the AAF projects get exported as L and R mono tracks. In the export window of the AAF export there's no possibility to uncheck any thing that could make it mon. Has anyone found any solution to this? Thx!!
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately not, it seems that with some DAWs that’s the only way. You should be able to convert them back into stereo files within the DAW though - although, I’m presume you’re trying to avoid that step. Which DAW are you transferring over to?

Absolutely.
Don’t send 4 takes to the mix engineer and ask them to pick the best one, that’s not their job.
v helpful. Always so confused with the MIDI part, but you explained all the questions like why combine all MIDI together and all that
Great stuff - glad it helped you out!
This was extremely helpful man, thank you!
You’re welcome - thanks for watching!
Oh, man. THIS VIDEO IS SO FANTASTIC!!!! Thank you for creating this!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

You solved my trouble. Your tutorial is so detailed. Thank you very much
That’s great to hear - thanks for watching!
How do you actually send it thru email to them?
I’d recommend something like WeTransfer. You can send files up to 2gb for free
Thank you so much. I was looking for this! You helped out. Cheers
You’re welcome!
Really good, info-rich video. Many thanks!
Thank-you! AAF was what I was looking for.
You’re welcome - glad it helped!
Clear explanation
Hmmm... Why did the stereo files turn to two separate tacks?

Brilliant, thanks!
i have problem after import midi file in logic pro x when i export back when open in vanbasco the sound changes especially the bass sound pls advise
I’m not sure I follow mate, what do you mean that the sound changes in Vanbasco?
I’ve never actually used Vanbasco before

You’ll have to bounce those MIDI tracks as audio files. Then you’ll be able to export those along with the other audio files.
Does that make sense?
Nice video, thank you James

do you know how to export a smite track?

Hmm, off the top of my head it sounds like you’re doing it right and I’m not sure there’s a faster way to do it - that’s exactly how I would do it too
@@JamesArterMusic Alrighty. It´s good to know, that you would do it the same way. Thanks a lot for your answer.
No worries at all.
It's a shame there's not an easy way - perhaps someone else might chime in with another solution, as I'd love to hear it!
Thank you !
You’re welcome!
Thanks for this mate!!
Thanks for watching!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for watching!
Thanks James! Have you made any videos on transferring Midi automation data?
No, I haven’t but perhaps I should.
I’ll look into it!
THANK YOU!!!!!
Will the aaf conversion take the dB as is?
Yep. AAF will just keep the levels of the audio files as they are
Thanks

@@JamesArterMusic Hey Thank you very much. Yes, seems to be the only way. Converting back works though. Be well! Thx!
As of today, I suddenly can't do anything more than stereo! All instruments are mono. Do you happen to know what it could be? greetings
It might be that you have ‘include volume and automation data’ checked.
Try unchecking that
Great video
Glad you found it useful. Cheers for watching!
How about from logic to Cubase?
If I remember correctly, this should be the same process for transferring to Cubase
what can OMF do?
OMF does a very similar thing to AAF. You can use that too for pretty much the same function
Really useful info. Thanks so much, exactly what I was after. Liked and subbed :-) 👍
That’s great to hear! And thank you 🙏
Midi at 8:40
Thanks 👍
