    How do you give this a thumbs down? Geez I’m a diehard FZ fan and this guy’s interpretation is outstanding 😎

      Even better than the real thing? Well, no, but only because he didn’t write it. I am pretty sure Zappa would have had him in the band, “without a comma…” This guy is special. There is a new generation of musicians coming up over the last 10 odd years, I’ve noticed who love Zappa music and are prepared to study it to become great. The one thing Zappa could have done, which he obviously didn’t have the time for, is write the “Zappa’s Young Person’s Guide to Music Theory For Impossible Music’s” lol. Of course, we no longer have a mainstream music industry to get this stuff out there in the traditional sense, so RUclips and the rest will have to suffice.

    Great version of a FZ classic! For those of you who are new to Quinn, he was just a young kid that Buddy Guy learned of and brought him on stage through out Quinn's teen years.
    And it seems that Quinn just gets better and better.

  • @SurfFender

    Probably the hardest fans to win over in music are FZ fans. If Quinn played this note for note, I would have found a flaw. This is an amazing, FZ only song. I saw it live once, and was blown away. I really like this interpretation. It has to be played on a Gibson; but when I clicked on the link, I was hoping Quinn did a Fender interpretation. Honestly, I would probably of hated a BN version if someone played it on a Fender. I love the way Quinn plays the guitar; and I really appreciate that he played this song. If he put this version on a CD, I would listen to it over and over. Great job

    This is beauty AND: isn't it amazing how Frank provided such wonderful vehicles for artists to feature their creativity through? Seriously, composition can get no better than the "conceptual continuity" Zappa left w/ us! He is ONE modern composer who, TRULY, refuses to die.

      Most musicians just don't have the skills to attempt Zappa's music. His own bands were always being pushed to the limits of their abilities.

  • @jameshickerson3544

    Points for the effort... not a bad run at it. A little quick to let go of some moments... the poise adds that little extra passion! I like the little twisty pink napkinsish funk segment in the middle. It's a shame the band (bass and drums) can't figure out how to any thump and beat into this amazing song. Frank's freakishly good bands likely spoiled me, though. Thanks Quinn for one of the few covers of my favorite guitar work of all time.

      There is another video of this performance I think done professionally for Quinn with better sound and a better angle to see him playing but this is a great video too. Matt, you are right on there his tone is so awesome. You can really hear it better in the other video as far as his soloing parts. In this video, you can hear what he is doing during the organ solo much better than the other video. ruclips.net/video/pRxXAGWaASk/видео.html try this link

    I’m always happy to see people pay respect to Frank. So props for that. You certainly have the chops. But to me this comes off as a young man trying to conquer a Zappa landmark. Taking this much liberty with this song is somewhat sacrilegious to me. If I could play guitar as well as you can, and I was covering this song, I’d cover it to the letter. Check out Frank’s Mike Douglas appearance. If you’re going to play this song, it shouldn’t be about you, it should be about Frank. I’m sure the other 95% of your show is plenty of you time. I don’t mean to be disparaging, I just want Franks legacy respected. I’m sure I’ll get a ton of shit for this post, but I hope you get what I’m saying.

    • @lastdaysguitar
      @lastdaysguitar 2 года назад +2

      I saw Frank live many times and he never played a song the same way twice - his music was alive and ever changing, THAT is his legacy. So I seriously doubt he'd have any problem with this performance at all.

    • @Cigarsnguitars
      @Cigarsnguitars 2 года назад

      You apparently are not a musician. I’ve never played the same song the same way twice. Music is a glimpse into the soul of the person performing. It is open to interpretation. I’ve generally played a song based on how I feel at the moment I’m playing it. I’ve played guitar for 53 years. I enjoy listening to how someone interprets a song. It’s not blasphemy and no one should be stoned (throwing of rocks type) for it. As open a creator as FZ was I’d think he would appreciate hearing someone else’s take on his song. In music we all learn from each other. Now get over yourself. 🖕🤘
