Excellent! As a former oil burner tech I appreciate what you show in the video.

Excellent demo! I too have discovered that the faults often caused by a low cost component.

Idk if you will see this but, i have the same beckett system! Its only 3 ta 4 years old! I went to turn my heat on and nothing! So i went to my furnace and it wont power on! I checked the wiring and the fuse! When i hold the reset button ,the 2 lights go yellow after about 15 ,20 seconds then just both shut off! If i cut the power with the handle or the fuse and turn it back on, it will blink red n thats it! Any thoughts?

ive, got this very unit. it ran yesterday until the house was in the 90s .i tried turning down the digital thermostat with no luck so i flipped off the wall switch and now the green light is on constantly and it wont do anything even after holding down the reset button

My controller has no lights on at all. Not even the reset button is blinking, but the yellow pump prime light does come on after 15 secods holding it. Could the controller be bad?

it was bad, replaced it and heater fired right up

@@Monkmandan I wish I had seen your question a month ago. I would have recommended replacing the 7505 with a Carlin Promax. Much more reliable and programmable, and it doesn't need the add on "contractor" tool to program or read history. I like the Beckett AFG but I run with with the Carlin controllers.

After this Beckett failed I put in a Carlin 70200, and certainly prefer it over the Beckett. No issues with the Carlin after 3 years, but I keep this repaired Beckett around as an emergency backup.

@@lisacourt7269 Well replacing with the same controller I figured would be easiest,if i had any other symptoms I would have called an expert but just swapping wires was easy.

Hey man thanks for the video. I bled my burner, and my controller went out. After giving it a hard restart, it would still not turn on. I bought a new controller, plugged all wires in the appropriate locations. When I turned the burner on, the green light, yellow light, and red light of the controller came on for one second, then turned off. I read the trouble shooting part of Beckett’s website and they said to 1. Jump the TW-TR wire. I did that, no change. Then 2. Check the voltage going into the system. I did that and read 120. I’m kindve shit out of luck and freezing at this point lol. Any suggestions?

Nice video. I have one of these units that has an open primary in the on board power transformer. I can't seem to find a replacement. Do you know of any? Thanks.

    • @RandomBytesDotNet

Failed windings are very rare. This could have an internal thermal fuse on the primary that is blown, I'd check for that first. It will likely be just under the tape on top of the primary windings, and can be replaced. You should also ensure the secondary circuitry does not have a short, causing an overload. I have seen such fuses fail elsewhere, even without significant overload.
If you cannot locate a fuse, you may not find an exact transformer replacement, but there is nothing special about the transformer. However, without ripping my controller back apart I'm not sure how many secondary windings this has or their voltages. Judging by the bottom PCB traces at 4:58, it looks like this is at least a center tapped secondary (if not two windings).

I’m having this issue keeps short cycling then tripping ,, also runs rough then shuts off.

Do you have any tips for diagnosing no igniter? Wiring diagram of the board would help

    • @RandomBytesDotNet
      @RandomBytesDotNet  3 года назад

With the ignition transformer flipped up, you can connect the primary side directly to power and see how well it is able to strike an arc. You should be able to find other videos demonstrating this to get an idea of what the arc should look like. Be careful with how you poke the high voltage side.
If the transformer is not the issue, make sure the electrodes are clean and adjusted properly. You can also check whether the transformer is receiving power.

Hello my water expansion tank split in half so I dried the water and replaced the tank now the burner got wet and I could hear an electrical noise like something electrical got wet
Anyway after replacing expansion tank the furnace will not fire up
It's not trying to turn on and when I tried bleeding it there was no pressure at all the oil would drip very slowly
I'm assuming it's the primary control
If anybody can help I appreciate it

The burner it's not making the initial noise before the furnace turns on
