This worked like a charm!!! Soaked paper towels in regular vinegar and laid them on the mineral ring overnight. Next day removed the paper towels and the ring was GONE! Loved how easy this was!! Great instructions!

I emptied more than a quart of white distilled vinegar into my toilet bowl. I did not drain the toilet bowl. I'm too lazy! I did, however, line the bowl with toilet paper soaked in white vinegar above the normal water line where there were stain marks.
I checked the toilet seven hours later and all of the stains had completely vanished! Even the stains at the bottom of the bowl were removed, and as I stated earlier, I didn't empty the water from the toilet bowl! Also, I did not need to scrub the toilet bowl! My toilet bowl now looks brand new! There was almost no work involved! Thanks for sharing!

But its easy enough just to turn off the water valve on toilet, FLUSH it completely. Use a 1 cup measuring cup scoop and remove as much water as is comfortable (for me I was able to remove 10 cups) and then use a sham-wow (or a small towel) to get the rest of water out. The more water you leave behind it functions to dillute the vinegar and you waste money having to use more Vinegar than you would have used if the water was not there. Im lazy too but we are talking about 3 minutes of work here. If you are Uber-Lazy than just use 600 grit sandpaper, that will get the stains out immediately and effortlessly.

It's incredible how many tons of things you can do with either regular vinegar or with Apple cider vinegar. From mouth rinse, aliviating sore spots, reducing brusing, smelly feet, cleaning your whole house, killing dermatitis, dandruff, insect repellent, and about another thousand applications, and it's so inexpensive! Great tip about getting rid of stains in the toilet.

Me too. I tried like 6 different products and videos. This is the real vid that worked as close as possible for me and I watched like 20 vids when it comes to the rim cleaning. The stains on my toilet bowl rim were so tough to get out. The higher vinegar concentration helped, but ended up using bleach soaked paper towels around the rim to finally remove the rust/lime. For prevention of buildup around the rim, I poured cleaning vinegar into the toilet tank water fill tube container periodically so the jets will be clean.

I too, was ready to purchase a new toilet until I found this video. I used regular distilled vinegar because that is what I had at home. I drained the bowl, poured in the vinegar, soaked Viva Paper towels and lined the rim with them then waited 45 minutes. I used an old kitchen dish scrub much like the one in the video and scrubbed with it. The bowl took no effort at all but the hard water stains under the rim took some really hard scrubbing. After 1/2 an hour of scrubbing with the brush the whole toilet is sparkling. Thank you for sharing this amazing video I was going to give up after trying straight bleach and CLR (separately of course) until I tried the vinegar, which I have always used in the Fabric Softener portion of my front loading HE washing machine.

I can't believe it worked!! Placing paper towels soaked with vinegar around the toilet ring did wonders to "loosen" the stains. It took a lot of elbow grease and the use of a pumice stone to get it off. Some of the stains in the tiny holes around the toilet ring is harder to scrub off. After soaking so small pieces of toilet paper with vinegar and sticking it in the hole has worked wonders for the stains. I'm confident it will all come off soon. I can't thank you enough for this tutorial!!

Toilet isn't real stained but I have a hard water ring that is hard to keep away at the water line (newer $500 toilet) and some light staining on the upper sides . So while toilet was freshly drained and just a little wet I placed thin 3 or so layers of TP on the sides . Then I put vinegar in a windex bottle , put in on "stream" and have sprayed the toilet paper twice now . Will keep it wet for a few hours and see what happens ! Thanks for for the video !

The secret is coating the porcelain with porcelain tile sealer, and using a polish, or wax to coat the tile sealer. Porcelain is porous. So the gunk get trapped in the pores. Seal the pores, problem solved. Makes cleaning in general a LOT easier! If you have car polish. It will work by itself. I used car polish to see if it would work by itself. Coated the bowl first week of February. It is now May 12. Still working.

I had two toilets with very heavy stain buildup in the bottom of the bowls. I had a gallon of muriatic acid in my garage for about 20 years. On advice from a plumber friend, I poured half of it in each toilet, waited 1/2 hour and flushed both toilets. Totally gone stains, like magic. So I got rid of both stains, and the acid. It doesn't hurt the toilet surface at all. But the acid smells like rotten eggs times 1000. Then again, the vinegar smells too, but is safer.

The new way to do this. Take all the water out as he did. In a spray bottle mix equal parts heated up vinegar with equal parts DAWN dish soap. The Dawn keeps the vinegar where you sprayed it. Leave a couple of hour and if it doesn’t come loose just scrub with FINE wall paper Sanding screen. This solution, minus sanding, works great on showers and tubs. I owned rental for 21 years and did all the maintenance and cleaning when tenants moved.

Standard vinegar white of brown also works on hard water deposits on any surface that is visible, chrome fixtures, shower glass, porcelain tiles etc. If you Mr Coffee is getting slow to brew it is because the hard water minerals have coated the boil chamber inside and act as a thermal insulator.
Run a half a pot of pure vinegar through the brew cycle several times up to 10 times and then carefully rinse the water holder tank (don't get electrical parts wet), basket and glass pot out, then brew several pots of plain water. Your machine will work like new. Remember never put cold water on a hot glass decanter. Use hot water first with a fast rinsing motion and work the temperature cooler until cold.

Of course, vinegar is cheap, but I use a BWT water softener pad in my Britta filter pitcher for coffee water, and can go months without having much buildup. It exchanges the Calcium with Magnesium, which is much less likely to stick. Folks with hard water need to run vinegar through every week, TBH. I've seen big Bunn units need a whole day of cleaning to descale. Easier to maintain if they never get scaled up in the first place, however you accomplish the task.

Drinking a little Braggs apple cider vinegar in water first thing in the AM has the same effect on the GI tract; scrubs away all the gunk and slime. White vinegar is also good for removing cooking smells. Just boil up some with a little water and house smells clean and fresh as a daisy after the vinegar smell dissipates, say in about half an hour.

On a separate note, vinegar can also be used as a natural weed killer. Mix 1 gallon of vinegar with 1 cup of salt and a tablespoon of liquid dish soap into a container and then pour into a spray bottle, or a pump sprayer. I bought a pump sprayer at Home Depot that holds a gallon of liquid, for $10. I sprayed the crab grass growing around some brick posts in my front yard which were initially green and the next day they turned yellow and were dried out. So, clean your toilets and clean your weeds! Lol. 👍🏽

Use vinegar to make your bathroom and sink faucets look like new. I put undiluted vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray it, let it sit and wipe it clean. To remove hard water off of shower head I put vinegar in a sandwich baggie and rubberband it to the shower head. Let it sit for an hour or so and wipe it off.

So thankful you responded. I just recieved your three emails a few minutes ago. Haven't tried the muriatic yet. I mixed up manganese for magnesium(I knew I shld hv cked...). There is scaling around the rim of my sink faucet that looks like the run of the mill limestone. My ground here in Eden Isles subdiv.(Slidell) is clay. Below that we have salt and sulphur domes and deposits all over Louisiana. We have that good ol' hydrogen sulfide egg smell. You can NOT use more than 2 teaspoons... Pt2.

That bowl was looking pretty good to begin with! LOL! I've been scraping scale out of my bowl which is easily 1/32" thick, for a few days now, in stages. Barmen's Friend is no match for my schelack. It's so gross! Thanks for the tip on the cleaning strength vinaigre. Didn't even know there was such a thing.

    • @RJTheBikeGuy
