Ogamiltto70's suggestion is great along with this excellent video. I've come here to also request a track to reconstruct, if you think it's worthy that is.. 3V - Heart Of The Beat.. still makes me do Wondersaults. Dan Hartman, Jellybean Benitez and Michael Hutchinson = Boom I guess it may be a stretch to emulate the vocals :D Great work, Claudio
this video not only shows and explains how drum machines work but also teaches things too! I mean, I'm experimenting and messing around with music making and such videos are huge help. gotta learn to make 80s stuff somehow
Nice. May I make a suggestion? I think that one day soon you should make a "reconstruction" video on Jan Hammer's _Crockett's Theme._ It was kept alive on dance floors and covered by synth artists through the Nineties, Two Thousands, Twenty-Tens up to today in the Twenty-Twenties and I believe that it has been important in driving the renewed interest in the instrumentation and sounds of the Eighties that we're hearing so much of these days. It has certainly stood the test of time. So why not give it the "reconstructed" treatment: the chord progression, the melody, the rhythms, what instruments were used, the whole nine yards due a classic of electronic music? That's my request. Please consider it.
I wasn't aware it had been covered throughout the ages. There is no doubt in my mind that Jan Hammer is one of the biggest driving influences in the emergence of synthwave/retrowave, although this is an educated guess.
Trio "Da Da Da" was a huge underground track. In the 80's it was always played on college radio, in new wave/goth dance clubs etc. Even into the 90's you would hear it at industrial clubs.
Da Da Da was part of the "Neue Deutsche Welle", which was very popular in Germany in 1981 and 1982. Other songs of the "NDW" are for example "Fred vom Jupiter" or "Goldener Reiter". Artists like Nena and Falco became popular during this time.
Awesome. I remember when we got a new TR-505 in our music department in 1986 - I hogged it every week. The Rolands were so easy and intuitive to programme. It had the same Snare sample as in the 707, but the kick on the 707 was much more solid and cut through every mix. Stock / Aitken / Waterman used it all the time and so did Clannad for the "Robin of Sherwood" soundtrack .
Ah "Da Da Da" from Trio - so iconic. One song from our so called NDW era (Neue Deutsche Welle - in english: the new german wave). What only few people know: Trio was produced by Klaus Voormann (a good old friend of the beatles, designed the "Revolver" cover, played in Lennons Ono Band and so on) But apart from that fact: The 80s are the best music era IMO!
Marvelous video! I guess the simplest ones are often the most genial. That is why I would mention Sade's "Paradise". Very simple drum machine beat, but one that just marks the song definitely, and once you listen, you just can't get the countertempo beats out of your head!
In reality the drumloop in 'I Need You Tonight' is TR-707 and live drums combined! They mixed the live acoustic drums with drum machine pattern to add liveness to this loop.
Im a metal guitarist among other things but was a bouncer and doorman in the 80's...and I went from Rock and Roll Pubs into Discos. These beats were amazing. Love the 90's rap that was pop not gangster as well.
You amazing, king of beatz. I remember getting a gig in the 90s around the Balearics on the party boat, we were laying down some sick beats surrounded by drunks and drug fuelled reprobates, Mr Zee was bringing up the bass on trk 4 and this guy threw-up over his mixer, spaghetti hoops and curry, the liquid dripped into the DMX unit and blew all the lights. We ended up fusing the electrics to the boat and were adrift for 10 hours. This weird guy in a captain uniform came up from the gallows shouting at everyone, Mr Z and the drunk had to beat him, we found keys on that captain that accessed other areas of the boat which was unexplainable, totally emptied the alcohol, the coast guard arrived and took us on their ship but Mr Z blew the electrics on that boat by accidently urinating over the bridge controls, adrift without power we found a station on shortwave radio so the beats carried on, when the party boat went under so did the gig, at least we did not have to clean up, we pinned the blame on the mad shouting captain.
Great video again Dr. :) Thanks for mentioning Enigma's "Sadeness" as well - I thought I was going mad when I compared the rhythms but it turns out I was right - YAY!!!! :) I love all things Enigma and it's nice to hear them mentioned again. Having tried to "reconstruct" (cough / cover) it myself in FL-Studio it was nice to just see exactly how it was constructed on the 909 thanks 👍 NEXT !!!!!!! - keep em coming :)
For me the Human League's song Human is the greatest sequenced drum track ever. Released in 1986 it was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, a true masterpiece.
WOW, this video took me back to when I first started playing as a kid. I had the tr-505 and 909. Jazzie B is a cool guy, I knew one of the string players from Soul II Soul way back when. GREAT VID!!!!!
SUPER, my favorite Heart of glass. What impresses me Claudio is that you do all your takes in one take without mistakes, grrrrrr for me. I'm jealous, (I love your NEEEEXT....... ) LOV
Lovely work and this takes me back to the 80's & 90's buying albums and looking at what instrumentation was used on each album & many times you never knew, but what creative times they were and super video!
UPDATE: I got that UVI BeatBoxAnt.2 - and it's great! nice to have it! Soo greatful to see and hear how you are in the scene of NDW("Neue Deutsche Welle" -> in english: new german wave of sounds/songs) of the music movement in germany. great to see that explain how "Trio - Da Da Da" was created. Very Happy thanks for that ;-) ..Doctor Mix you are such an great magician of music and it's Great to see how you showing it to us ..always best regards to you for it, Frank Liebe
Love this video; so many great songs. I found out about Da Da Da when they used it brilliantly in a Volkswagen commercial in the late 90s. Love that UVI Toy suite, too - My son is going nuts with that and the 8-Bit suite on his synth.
Hey doctor mix! I’m a huge fan and love all your content! I’m just as fascinated as you are and I love the energy. I was wondering if you could deconstruct and explain the production of I feel love! Giorgio is an all time favorite and genius!
Hi! Are the UVI BBA 2 the best drum machine samples? or you know other libraries with fidelity sounds from famous drum machines? Thank you, marvelous video!
The kicks are also in the wrong place, and the hi-hat pattern isn’t correct. Other than that it’s nice to hear my first record I ever bought! I must have played it easily over a thousand times, programmed it into 3 different drum machines, and performed it live almost 30 times! Great track which always sounds current.
The da-da-da-Piano was also done with the vl1. Oh, and my one (a present for my 50th any) is still working - WITH the mint-condition-sleeve :) Again awesome video, Dr.!

Great work, Claudio
I love how the click was harmonising with the Da Da Da drums
The "magic" in Keep on moving truly was the magic. A lot of stuff I make I throw some swing on there to keep things spicy.
Thanks! just got a Behringer RD-8 and these are like free lessons.
this video not only shows and explains how drum machines work but also teaches things too!
I mean, I'm experimenting and messing around with music making and such videos are huge help.
gotta learn to make 80s stuff somehow
I would love to see you reconstruct "Funkytown" by Lipps Inc.
Pseudo Echo did quite a good cover of that in the 80’s.
@@SharpblueCreative They sure did
Oh hell yes, that song goes so much harder than it should
I trough it was a real drum
Yes!!
Nice.

Nice idea.

On dance floors? Never heard this in any dance floor at this era or even in the 90's etc... It's a great track, but not for the dance floor.
Ogamilto, are you talking about ‘Crocket’s Theme’? That one has been covered many times. Then I can totally agree with you.
Yes !
Trio "Da Da Da" was a huge underground track. In the 80's it was always played on college radio, in new wave/goth dance clubs etc. Even into the 90's you would hear it at industrial clubs.
It was also absolute crap.
PS. I owned a Casio VL tone

Other songs of the "NDW" are for example "Fred vom Jupiter" or "Goldener Reiter".
Artists like Nena and Falco became popular during this time.
Please do more of these 80s breakdowns .. synth lines / baselines etc
Thank you!!
Danke!
wow thank you!!!
Remembering old 80’s was so great.
This guy is amazing. He makes it look so easy... Frankly, I dont know where to start with this universe of machines
Köszönjük!
Thank you so much!
The drum sounds of the 80’s are iconic! Keep them coming Doctor Mix👌
Nice throwback :-)
Blue Monday famously did the kick roll on beats 3 and 4, not 7 and 8 like you played it here, though!
Nice to see how these beats were made, especially Blue monday ! Thx Claudio !
@DoctorMix You are the best. Just watching you jam is an absolute joy and bolsters my creative inner spark.

I always thought Heart of Glass was on the Linn Drum. Now I know! Thanks Dr. Mix!
Oh wow! this is a really cool video. Thanks Doctor Mix!

I've tried finding Enigma - sadness for a long while! Thank you!!! And this video is so awesome! Love these breakdowns
Wham - Everything she wants on LynnDrum, Prince - almost every beat from Purple Rain album making LM-1 sound iconic and recognizable.
Yo, you always put a smile upon my face! All the best from Germany, DADADAW.
Marvelous video! I guess the simplest ones are often the most genial. That is why I would mention Sade's "Paradise". Very simple drum machine beat, but one that just marks the song definitely, and once you listen, you just can't get the countertempo beats out of your head!
I've enjoyed this video like I was in a playground.
Thanks for your beautiful energy, man. Thanks.
I’ve had one of those little Casios since I was a kid. That one little beat on it is worth the price of admission.
Great. Finally the secret beat of Blondie‘s Heart of glass resolved 👍🏻
Lets not forget the drum sounds from Wild Boys by Duran Duran. No drum machine story is complete without that!
I don't think Duran Duran use a drum machine on that title, the drummer uses electronic pads.
You Spin Me Round ♥️
Great choices, I love all of these songs. ✌️😉
And again, this is why I ❤️ synthesizers - I‘m an 80s child 🍻
Quanti ricordi...
Nothing like the '80s.
The INXS groove is absolutely awesome. Really cool to see these broken down and to see what drum machines they were played on. Nicely done!
In reality the drumloop in 'I Need You Tonight' is TR-707 and live drums combined! They mixed the live acoustic drums with drum machine pattern to add liveness to this loop.
Doctor Mix = one of the greats.
Dude you're so much fun to watch haha. Keep being awesome 👊🏻
Blue Monday needs some work. Just watched them in concert blasting Blue Monday into our ears at 120 Decibels. Was Awesome.
Best thing I have watched on YT for a long time.
That is awesome Claudio! Best greetings from France... As usual!
Thank You!, I've been looking for something like what UVI has.
Im a metal guitarist among other things but was a bouncer and doorman in the 80's...and I went from Rock and Roll Pubs into Discos.
These beats were amazing.
Love the 90's rap that was pop not gangster as well.
Cool video, really entertaining especially when you start playing the keyboard and actually gives you ideas about making music. 🎼😊👍
Rock them beats Claudio. Thanks for your inspiring videos.
This was so great! Loved it! These are iconic!

The Rimshot on “I need you tonight” is very recognizable and a good example how Roland influenced the music of the 80s!

Oh I love the '80s!!! You are Great!!!! By from Italy!!!!!!
Excellent presentation !
That was awesome! I can't believe how simple Heart of Glass actually is, it sounds more complex.
I don't think he actually got very close to the actual Heart of Glass sound/pattern
@@bvnd0906 Sounded very close to me!
One of my favorite drum programing is Don Henley Boys of Summer using the legendary Linndrum, for me is the heart of the song, excellent programing.
For me the Human League's song Human is the greatest sequenced drum track ever. Released in 1986 it was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, a true masterpiece.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Thanks!!
gracias por la clase, saludos desde Mexico....yo solo tengo una roland mc-303, me encantan tus maquinas¡
Lo primero que hice con mi MC-505 fue recrear Blue Monday !
I had the vl1, my first ever keyboard.
Trio's Da-Da-Da - I got the VL1 as a kid... freaked out when I found that groove...
Very cool!) I love your channel!
All great selections. Thx for the re-construction
You make me smile everytime!
sei bravissimo! complimenti!
Love these beat reconstruction videos. Can u do some 80s/90s dance music ones with the Korg M1?
Thanks Dr Mix!
Lovely work and this takes me back to the 80's & 90's buying albums and looking at what instrumentation was used on each album & many times you never knew, but what creative times they were and super video!
Hell yeah, drum machine content, my fave!
Love your energy dude!
Da Da Da. They put more effort into it than I imagined! Now if you could cover "Money" by the flying lizards, my journey will be complete. 😁😁😁😁
Mr C - Your studio is a Time Machine - that makes you Dr Who !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ⏲⏲⏲
What memories you bring me, great teacher.👏👏

@DoctorMix, would you do a recreation of “You Spin Me Round?”
I have the Casio VL-1 (original & UVI) Love UVI!
I love it
I would love video like this on big black, the drum beats the albini came up with for that band are crazy
Fun vid, Doc. Oh, and I like that new company name logo by the way. You should sell t-shirts (and make that logo big). :)
These are all great!
...but you missed one. Prince's Linn 🥁 Drum kit.
I feel like Blue Monday really needs the clap sound in there.
