  • A crazy last minute idea had us scrambling up Mt Te Aroha. This is not an easy climb, and it's even harder if you follow the road track down.
    Still, a fantastic walk and a great sense of achievement when you reach the top.

    Bal Spur lookout is nice from the lookout the going is very steep 😂 you used to be able to sign the visitors book at the TVNZ tower used to be able to drive up there

      It'd be a bummer to go through all that effort not to get a nice view :-) There's still a road but it's closed to the public.

      @@NomadLifeKiwi when I did it was in 1998 on leave from the Army it was getting overgrown and I set up camp and watched the sun go down it was pitch black that night took me ages to find my bed space 😂

    top effort guy's. Mikes a trooper. would put a 40yr old to shame. Do you reckon I'd get my triumph up the top by road Jo?

      I don't think the road is open to the public. We didn't see any traffic but we only walked about halfway down, then the track went back into the bush.

    We are planning on getting to the summit this month, pending lockdown levels dropping ... 🙆🏻‍♀️
    We reached the Whakapipi lookout last time, and then did the Tui Domain track, totalling around 15km that day. 😁
