I advise many of my friends that will one day bring their parents to live in a care home to choose a modern place over an old one. Modern buildings generally give off an air of optimism, whereas old buildings hark back to the past. So, if someone has only six months to live, or a few years, I would choose the energy of optimism of the modern - namely clean and bright, over the fusty and past orientated.

I love rearranging my furniture when I need to make a change. It feels like a whole new home, and there have been times in the past that I did every 6 months or so. It's more stable these days, but I really do see the importance of having a space that works for you.

I love doing that too! My family, however, is not so crazy about it, so it is a give and take!
