Jo Swinson talks up chances of being Prime Minister

- The Liberal Democrats currently have 18 MPs in the House of Commons - over 300 short of being able to form a majority - but despite that, the party's leader believes she is a serious contender to become Prime Minister.
Jo Swinson delivered her conference speech telling members that the Lib Dems should not be satisfied with a place on the fringes of British politics.
And her central policy to achieve that - is to stop Brexit.

When the Undems talked of yet-another referendum there was a path for people to convince themselves that it was legit, but this, this is just nakedly telling the electorate they don't matter.

All she will do is take some votes from the Labour remain voters. I think the polls are right in that Lib Dems will see a bit of an increase while Labour will see quite a drop with leave and remain voters not happy with them. Not sure if it will be enough for Bojo to get a majority but I think he will just about do it.

If so-called politicians like Jo Swinson believe that voters cannot be trusted with the truth, democracy is seriously at risk. For a democracy to function, it is essential that governments respect the people and take them seriously, not only those that have voted for that government but all people. Furthermore, in order to exercise their democratic rights properly, people should be informed as fully as possible.
I think the people of Britain should consider themselves very lucky because if Swinson did get in power Britain would be in flames.
