    Love dot cards! I got Holbein dot cards off Artemiranda a couple years ago. They also have (or had) Mijello Mision Gold, White Nights, and Rosa Gallery. All give very generous dots. So you might want to check there. Did my second batch of dots ever arrive? I hope they didn't get lost in the mail. Thanks for the video! Looking forward to seeing the Maimeriblu and A. Gallo paints swatched out!

      I checked and Artemiranda doesn't have the Holbein dot cards anymore. Bummer!

    Oh… I think my comment may have been eaten by RUclips ( left one previously.. unless I didn’t hit send or something!).
    Dot cards really are incredibly helpful.
    I have several, including the Holbein dot card- I purchased it from Jackson’s art years ago. I checked the other day and they still have them. Hope that helps 💙
    Edit… I just looked again and the listing has gone again…

      Yeah Jackson's has them sometimes. There is another seller on Etsy that has them too aside from Tiny Shops.

    I love love love dot cards 😍 I don’t got as many as you, though. But thanks for the tip with Etsy! 😊
    About the Van Gogh mica paints: I think they are nice. Not the best out there, but they fit the expectations of a student grade brand. Additionally, the interference paints are best seen in a black background. That’s were they really shine. But if you like shimmer, I recommend Rembrandts coated glass paints… they are so lovely 😍 and Rembrandt has a dot card, too 😊

    Thanks for sharing this video. I have several brand dot cards as well. They did not have these 30 years ago, so they are a game changer for many of us. 😂 FYI- Something I have seen and done is scanning these dot cards in black and white before testing them. If you know how, you can move or change each pigment area around to your liking with a paint program. Increase the size of the swatching area. You can then print them on your favorite watercolor paper with waterproof ink. I have an old HP printer and do this often. It also saves so much handwriting. 😅 i hope you're staying warm in Utah. We're at 34 degrees here in Indiana. ❄️🥶 BTW, it's nice to hear your dog in the background. 😊

      I looked all over from my past purchases, but it looks like they closed down.

    No sure of what dot cards are for. Is it just to collect samples? Is the end result to work toward a piece of art or what?

      They are good to view the colors and transparency, etc., before you buy. Different brands may have the same pigment number... however, they can look entirely different from one another. Also, all the properties in each color can be experienced firsthand. I wasted money on paints before I bought dot cards. Some are miserly and some, such as Da Vinci, really give a nice amount of paint. Happy painting! A California Gramma ❤

      @annenglish2935 Exactly! I can't begin to tell you how many times I nearly cried before dot cards were available. I had much less spare change in those days. I would splurge, spending 6-10 USD on one tube at a time, only to find out the color was not what it appeared to be. 🤣 😪

      I explained it in the video, but dot cards are what let you try out colors for other brands BEFORE you buy the paint tube itself and save you a lot of money.

    Those flat dots ugh, so disappointing! If at least they were like the Mijello Mission Gold... They are flat but huge.

    Cost? For cards used to be free. Why would anyone pay for these? If a company wants to win/ earn your business their product should stand for itself. The company should proudly provide free sample door cards. If they don't you shouldn't pay for them. Avoid that company.

    • @watercolorwanderingwithk
      @watercolorwanderingwithk  Год назад +2

      Almost every brand now sells their entire dot card sets. However, some will offer a free sample in person, but you don't get them free anymore for the entire line.
