- Today we bottle kill our first and only Old Rip Van Winkle 10yr. I present 3 comparable options that are less expensive and more findable (not easy though), but are they better?

I wish I could find the bottles I love! I'd be ecstatic to find any of the bottles mentioned in your show! Great show! Cheers!
Between 2000-2003 i drank 7 Old Rip Van Winkle bottles when they were the hammer shaped bottles. I wish i could have those back!!! Back then it was stand on its own the best of what was around back then at $49 a bottle...
I'd say closest/easiest to find to ORVW is simply KC12. Got that spice, viscosity, flavors. It's really close - not as spicey, not as hot - but VERY close for me.
Really enjoyed this video David, think you should make this a series! I'd be interested to hear what your alternatives are to M10 Bourbon 2023 since that's jumping in price and harder to find everyday.
I got the ORVW last Christmas for 130 and liked it more than the Weller 107, naturally. Until I tried the Pappy 15, it was my favorite. Last week I tried the Lot B, then got 2 Weller 12's for 84 each. Preferred the 10 and 15 over the Lot B, and of course over the 12's. Capped off the week with a free sample of King of Ky 15 yr. (saving 100 on the 2 pours). Having also sampled the President's Choice last week (for 30), The KoK quickly replaced the PC as my favorite B-F product. Oddly, the 1st B-F product I tried was Korbel, 49 years ago, with my old friend....Chris Morris, Master Distiller Emeritus.
Had my first pour the other day. Good but much better out there. Cheers. Going to have to Crack my Antique 107.
The 23 M10B is a special pour. Loved it so much I backed it up with 3 more for the bunker. The 22 PVW was very underwhelming and I trade my bottle for a 22 GTS and a 22 TTH. Did a blind with 22 PVW 15, 21 WLW, OWA and WFP SP. The WLW was far and away the best pour and it was not even close. The PVW 15 finished last for all 3 tasters.😮
Question, when you have a ten year that has been open for awhile doesn't it age based on it being open on your shelf? comparing it to a younger bourbon do or should you count the addition l age that you have had it (and open)? Thanks!!
I'll probably never try the Winkle or Michters but I can always dream lol
Dude.. I live in Columbus! 💯
For a really good budget whiskey i like Evan Williams!
I can't get antique 107. And I can't get stagg either. I see you have a few Davis on your shelf
Much better stuff out there for the price and time!!
The 20 is undrinkable
I opened my ORVW 10 a couple weeks ago. I found it underwhelming and disappointing. Fortunately it was gifted. I'll eventually drink it but I have a few dozen other bottles on the shelf I'd reach for first that's available and sub $100 dollars.
First comment?!?
So sad..RIP old friend🫶
Not bad but I do prefer to see the bottles that you review.
your bottle empty is worth 150.... Fill it with makers and you can get 800... 😊
Second comment
Nothing is worth secondary
