It is called a Heil talk box. This song is unique in that both Joe Walsh and Don Felder are using one and are duelling back and forth on the guitar solos. One takes lead while the other plays rhythm. This is the only song ever recorded like this

Yep. It's pretty easy to figure out which parts Joe is playing. He has a unique sound.

Many people incorrectly think Peter Frampton was the first to use the talk box in "Do you Weel Like We Do." They were around long before then. The early talk boxes were not refined and, at times, would shatter the artists' teeth.
I have never heard this song, ever. And I've heard every other Eagles song. Shame on me. ❤ Thankyou.😂❤

Joe Walsh on the talk box through his guitar. I highly recommend checking out a live performance of him doing Rocky Mountain Way ( solo or with the eagles, either is epic!)
