It's worth pointing out that Valve solved this issue over a decade ago with Team Fortress 2: Almost all of the maps in the game today - out of well over a hundred at this point, maybe even close to 200 - are made by community members. The community makes them for free, out of passion, but if valve selects one for addition, they pay the creators. Kinda like the mission Keyes? I planned on making something in that theme, the green water pools would be a good change from the broken toxic goo anyways
Thanks for the vid Mint. You bring up some interesting points about the new map. I haven't noticed the spawn point problems but your gameplay footage illustrates your point.
I like having vehicles in arena and larger 4v4 maps to allow them, plus the 'gimmicks' that have been in recent maps like acid, low g and the avcam corridor are cool; but with vehicles on corrosion specifically it feels like the geometry of the ground with little rocks and things there for decoration is off, driving the ghost and mongooses on it feels like driving with no suspension on gravel, its jumping around and getting stuck on the tiniest little pieces of terrain. Might also be related to the new networking model but it feels especially prominent on this new map
The first thing I noticed on one of my first games in Corrosion was spawning right beside a Ghost driven by the other team while on our side (I was killed). So just to be clear, it looks like there is potential for spawns to be both a serious advantage or disadvantage depending on the other team's position.
It's funny how the map with the spiky rocks and the corrosive liquid that damages you. Looks (visually) how i made my custom campaign "corrosion" a few month ago. Funny
Holy cow! The last time a new map was released, I said they stopped putting thought into map design and instead just slap some gimmicky section in the map and pretend like it makes up for the lack of map design. Looks like that trend is still ongoing.
So much potential with the concept of the community forging maps (& being financially compensated) ... But it's impossible for anything to get off the ground when the fundamentals are shattered. (343) My take: We need a complete rebirth, building on the best of Halo 2/3's gameplay/aesthetic, on the latest Unreal Engine ... Halo deserves a ROCK SOLID foundation, so that all of the detailed ideas (such as forge) can THRIVE
@@HoodRed69 I mean not really. Halo 4 launched with all content day 1, Halo 5 only had forge delayed for 3 weeks and that's because of their launch deadline given to them by Microsoft. MCC was their first big misstep but the reality is, making it the MCC instead of H2A alone was Microsofts idea, and they forced 343 to do it last minute, I don't know a single person who expected MCC to launch properly. Halo Infinite was the first genuine launch where you could call 343 not just incompetent, but GROSSLY incompetent. I'm hopeful for the next entry with new management and not having to clean up the garbage (Infinite) of the old management.
@@megaman37456 Absolutely not there's a reason why most of the fanbase have up and left. Even in 4 and 5 it lacked the proper artstyle, lacked the soul of the older games, they try to change everything to separate themselves from Bungie which led to them retconning mistake after mistake. Its been about 12 years now under their management, if this were any other job they would have been fired a long time ago. And to have the audacity to say it's not their fault after firing all the lead management and still be making mistakes to this day only relying on hype to keep hope alive. But ultimately it ends in more of the same incompetency. If you actually believe things are going to get better with them in charge, you're either a bot or paid to shill or special.
Off topic but has anyone been able to get the “ rendezvous” map in FireFight recently? 😅 played for 2 hours yesterday and I kept getting the old firefight maps. Didn’t get rendezvous once, the rotation seems very unlucky for me.
Very enlightening for someone who hasn't played much since release. Wake me... when there are more BTB maps. I would say wake me when there is second less suck Banshee or a full blown shielded vehicle system like in Halo 2, but I know that won't be coming from 343 if at all.
I really like the way corrosion plays way more than the other forger made maps I've played. But all your points are still valid obviously. Pay the forgers and give them the tools.
I think that 343 should give a select few (maybe 20 or 30) forgers the dev tools for maps and give them some sort of salary. Maybe that 100 dollars per 1000 plays of a map or something but just a form of reward. We could have some cool maps and have compensated forgers as well. Microsoft probably wouldn’t let them though.
This is something that I’ve thought about too. Forge maps should be updated over time to become more refined because there are some amazing standout Forge Maps in this game but these ones are almost amateur in comparison. The fact that they’re commissioned is even more of a slap in the face to the Forge community who put out higher quality maps.
This has been my main complaint with the game ever since forge launched. 343 has absolutely dropped the ball in terms of curating community content into matchmaking. We needed someone like you to bring focus onto this problem BADLY! New community creations playlist when? There hasn't been enough.
Keep in mind that this company also helped development for Skull and Bones, COD MW3, and Assassin's Creed Mirage. Not sure if I can say they have a steady background.
Mint, lately I’ve been finding myself in so many squad battle games where almost half the team leaves. I feel like this is a big problem because the matches aren’t fair anymore and it’s taking the fun out of the game. This could easily be fixed if there was a penalty for leaving games early. I understand some people have connection issues but there has to be a way to fix people just quitting games.
Simple, because 343 doesn't actually care about Halo. They only care about lining their pockets and ruining Bungies legacy because they think they know better. Clown company.
This is a slap in the face to forge creators. They need to pay the people who are upholding this game lol, just shows this big corporations can talk the talk & get away with not walking the walk.
When I first noticed the spawns don't flip or rotate I was playing CTF, pushed in their base killed 3 players and hide in the back of their base. I then found out they just spawned their again and wiped me out.
In my opinion I like Corrosion it is compact and the acid is a fun level hazard however they do need to fix some of the spawn issues. Also the acid is a bit tacky looking but they can update the texture to fix it otherwise I give it a 8/10.
Maybe I can use my cinematography skills to flavor up the lighting of some of these maps 😅. But seriously, lighting makes a huge difference in not just appearance. It can drive strategy, 343….
Although I agree with most of the things in the video. I really don't know if all the community forge maps are tested on all platforms (including Xbox One). Maybe spearsoft go "aesthetically" basic for the sake of the frame rates on the Xbox One imo
I just don't understand why they don't just make a Forge group where you get paid to make maps. So for example, you have 4 groups make maps, but if say only maps from groups 2 and 4 end up being selected, so groups 1 and 3 get (just for example purposes) $1,000 to split amongst those in the group to compensate for their time, while groups 2 and 4 might get $10k each to split between themselves (again, this is just an example number, as I don't know how much groups like SperASoft are being paid). This way you drastically increase the quality and performance of the maps, and people now have a means of making money.
I wonder why 343i is like this, months to add a single helmet attatchment, functional weapons leaked, vehicles as well, but they release those years after, i want to think it is the Slipspace Engine that are slowing they down
The fact that an external company is getting paid for far inferior work over top of better quality maps made by forgers for FREE is just sad. Either pay your forgers for better quality content in matchmaking on don't publish maps made by external companies until they meet the minimum level requirements at least!
I thought another one of their maps, Catalyst, is quite good actually! Both visuals and gameplay. But I am pretty dissapointed with Corrosion... Especaily the visuals. Gameplay felt decent I guess.
Now i know this is off topic, but what i wanna know is there anyway gou could bring up crosscore helmet attachments? It would be cool to have cat ears on all helmets, or the reach attachments on the mk4 helmets, ect ect. Ofc not all will work, but would be nice.
Someone getting paid to make Corrosion is absolutely ridiculous. Couldn't play more than 3 games on it as my team and I kept getting spawn killed endlessly. I literally spawned on the same exact point multiple times and the dude didn't have to move his crosshair at all. Would love to try infection on it but that's about it.
I actually like elevation and think it has a nice aesthetic but corrosion sadly was leaked back in November I think and it looks like they did a whole lot of nothing to update it since then lmao
Played this map once. I had to laugh at the trash bags in the pipes, the puddles of acid that have square edges, the crashed warthog dirt pile that looks like it’s play dough. 343 is not testing the maps or finishing them
Personally, I like the lower map quality. It feels fun, and reminiscent of Halo CE. The pretty, aesthetic maps are great too but I like the older style
Remember that vendor tools require vendor experience. You cannot take YE and Gadot sandbox designers and expect them to git gud overnight on forge AND I've never heard of a business hiring Forge designers AS Forge designers. Honestly 343ForgeLord would be pissing himself laughing at the circumstances (not that he can admit it). It's like Quake 2 and other great games from the past. Expansions being made by B teams and side companies do not make great products, they just make okay products to milk the IP.
Considering that the forge maps look pretty solid overall I gotta say these ones definitely look like “they were obviously made in forge” they did the bare minimum a map layout and called it a day
I like the gungoose play on this map, most other maps maybe you'll get a chance to ride one, this one if you want one you can get one. They are not as OP as Mint has said in his previous video, instead I feel they are actually viable now, where previously it felt like a non-viable gimmick. That said it does feel a bit OP. But it is more balanced now than before. I think it really comes down to being OP in the hands of a top player, whereas low-skilled players won't be able to take advantage of it. Similarly OP players can blow them up without too much trouble by grabbing weapons that are good at that, whereas low-skilled teams will ignore or avoid vehicles so they end up dominating. Other than that most of the matches I had on the new map were pretty bad. I think it was just the matchmaker giving me bad, unbalanced matches though. I like the flow of the map itself, though as stated it could use another art pass. It is a bit embarrassing to be killed by Gak after all.
Halo infinite multiplayer feels like a fan made game rather then something made by a studio. Meanwhile fans are making halo games that feels like they're made by the studio.
I seriously believe, that in some small facet at-least, the reason why 343 (or Microsoft idk) won’t pay fans to make maps is because they are jealous and offended that fans can undoubtedly create content that is better with less or no dev tools, and do a better job than the official listed companies/devs themselves. They have to feel that way in some facet, like it’s impossible for them not too. Most of these big companies have extremely fragile egos. Imagine how they feel when the general consensus is, “unpaid fans can create better, more polished maps than official devs.” I bet if the dev-made forge maps were anywhere as remotely good, they’d start adding in more community made ones. Because at-least then, even though it wouldn’t sway any majority opinion, they can say hold the, “standard” for what qualifies professional work. I mean cmon, wtf is up with this map check-list BS. You’re telling me it takes months to scan through at least a top-10 moc up of fan favorite maps? Sure. Crack-pot theory with no real evidence, yeah ik. But sometimes a dude can wonder, right?
I can stand by the art decisions from both company and forgers, but not the double standards at expectations for bot nav mesh and spawn balancing. There is frigging documentation to follow! No double standards on QA.
Why doesn’t 343 just make a forged BTB playlist, squad battle, and 4v4 playlist. Compile all the best maps in each playlist, do the basic minimum play testing then we can all play cool forged maps easier than having to join discord and find people to play custom games with each other
I think what is happening is 343 skips a far bit of checks for this external teams work where as community made stuff has high levels of checks likely for a plethora of legal reasons
I find that bot pathing doesn't even work on any of the new 343 maps that have been released. They seem to have only put effort into the maps that were on release.
Ya know, I just finished a level design course taught by a veteran of the industry (this by no means makes me an expert) but just by looking at corrosion it looks like it’s still in the grey boxing phase. Like it’s not finished as you stated. I’ll be giving forge a try as practice but even then, how is it that this 3rd party studio is getting paid for this? Pay the forge community at this point 343! They’re making your partner look like amateurs.
I think games that are no longer supported should be given control to the community or credible modders and approved through the developers before being sent out as an update or patch
It’s so tragic that Microsoft & 343i just won’t let Halo be great. All they have to do is just get out of the way and let Halo be, and they just won’t. Sick world we live in today.
It would be a shame to find out they're paying Sperasoft for these maps and not paying forgers for their maps... Oh wait, that's exactly what's happening

At least with the other side’s building spawn you have way more pathways to go and find cover.
Totally agree all the time Mint you have the best halo content
Yeah it’s bs how this company is doing a piss poor job and is being paid for it while forgers put all their heart into making maps but don’t get a single penny for their work. 🤦🏻♂️
I had this map in super fiesta and the enemy team had a tank
343 just can’t stop losing. It’s like they’re addicted to it.
Community is the devs at this point
Great feedback Mintz 👍
I loved their Elevation forge map. Elevation is my favorite map in Infinite currently.
I kind of wanna see corrosion, but in a flood aesthetic
The map needs prettying up real bad
It's funny how the map with the spiky rocks and the corrosive liquid that damages you. Looks (visually) how i made my custom campaign "corrosion" a few month ago. Funny
Holy cow! The last time a new map was released, I said they stopped putting thought into map design and instead just slap some gimmicky section in the map and pretend like it makes up for the lack of map design. Looks like that trend is still ongoing.
When i saw The Bad chapter being longer than the good, I knew this was going to interesting
So much potential with the concept of the community forging maps (& being financially compensated) ... But it's impossible for anything to get off the ground when the fundamentals are shattered. (343)
My take: We need a complete rebirth, building on the best of Halo 2/3's gameplay/aesthetic, on the latest Unreal Engine ... Halo deserves a ROCK SOLID foundation, so that all of the detailed ideas (such as forge) can THRIVE
Wish they hired some people to finish up the rest of the unfinished content. Now we have to wait until halo 7.
That game is gonna suck too because 343 is incompetent
@@HoodRed69 yeah, hopefully there isn't god awful leadership and an engine that doesn't work.
If you actually believe things are going to get better with them in charge, you're either a bot or paid to shill or special.
good luck getting people to play halo 7 if you've completely abandoned the previous installment and shattered the community into bits lol
Off topic but has anyone been able to get the “ rendezvous” map in FireFight recently? 😅 played for 2 hours yesterday and I kept getting the old firefight maps. Didn’t get rendezvous once, the rotation seems very unlucky for me.
I’d like to see them add a death affect akin to when you get vaporized by the forerunner weapons when you die from the acid
As a forger, it’s an absolute slap in the face to know these people get payed and push out what they do.
Very enlightening for someone who hasn't played much since release. Wake me... when there are more BTB maps. I would say wake me when there is second less suck Banshee or a full blown shielded vehicle system like in Halo 2, but I know that won't be coming from 343 if at all.
I've gone back to Halo 2/Halo 3 on MCC and have really been enjoying it.
I love the LAYOUT of corrosion. It’s a very fun FEELING map. Sucks it’s incomplete 😂
Looks like nickelodeon slime 😂
This is hysterical - PAID Devs doing a WORSE job than actual fans - that explains how 343 have dragged the Halo franchise into the mud...
Well, Bungie ruined their own legacy. You guys need to stop sucking off these studios, it’s not healthy.
0:06 the(whoo) killed me 😂😂😂
This is a slap in the face to forge creators.
El dewrito 0.7
Pizza time
Based.
This is what happens when you hire people who don’t care or play halo to make maps/armor. This has to end.
Pay the forgers! Pay the forgers!
"Best I can do is pay a 3rd party studio to make sub-par maps" - 343
Now i know this is off topic, but what i wanna know is there anyway gou could bring up crosscore helmet attachments? It would be cool to have cat ears on all helmets, or the reach attachments on the mk4 helmets, ect ect.
Ofc not all will work, but would be nice.
pay the forgers
Someone getting paid to make Corrosion is absolutely ridiculous. Couldn't play more than 3 games on it as my team and I kept getting spawn killed endlessly. I literally spawned on the same exact point multiple times and the dude didn't have to move his crosshair at all. Would love to try infection on it but that's about it.
Bro Uneeq has like 20 maps that 344 could put into matchmaking
Great video as always and as a forger myself, I can't help but agree with all your points here.
ONE YEAR to get a BTB map into matchmaking?! That sounds like a 343 red tape issue, not a technical limitation.
I noticed the bad spawns on Corrosion in my second match, how did this get through man...
I like this way it plays actually. Maybe not the prettiest, but still fun
Considering that the forge maps look pretty solid overall I gotta say these ones definitely look like “they were obviously made in forge” they did the bare minimum a map layout and called it a day
At this point... retire Halo from 343 and make it public domain.
Meanwhile fans are making halo games that feels like they're made by the studio.
man they really made the best Halo singleplayer campaign and then never released more content for it
If they pay Spearsoft for this quality, they must pay the forgers for their work
I seriously believe, that in some small facet at-least, the reason why 343 (or Microsoft idk) won’t pay fans to make maps is because they are jealous and offended that fans can undoubtedly create content that is better with less or no dev tools, and do a better job than the official listed companies/devs themselves.
Compile all the best maps in each playlist, do the basic minimum play testing then we can all play cool forged maps easier than having to join discord and find people to play custom games with each other
The fact the community is more willing to do stuff for this game then the developers and Microsoft itself is actually quite sad
Oh wait, that's exactly what's happening
ive played with hackers who fly around the map and used aim assist. I didnt realize the green stuff was killing me, and i couldnt figure out why i kept dying despite not being shot, and then someone told me that its "acid", so it kills you. I laughed my butt off, but idk why they dont make it more apparent. I was playing in the quick match queue too so its not like it gave me a forewarning. It just dropped me in mid game.
The Corrosion map look like it made on OG XBOX, they don't touch up the details and textures.
The new grindable currency just feels like a spit in the face in my opinion
