I always wondered why Mr Mazzucchelli left mainstream comics, thanks to this video I finally have the answer. His independent works are the most important/gratifying thing he can do but I do find it somewhat sad that as a result we will never see another "year one" or "born again". Some will say that doesn't matter but I will say those books have brought so much joy and inspiration in many a young budding wannabe comic artist and probably inspired them to discover more about the outside comic book world when you discover what led up to the creation of those works. It's also interesting that financial security from the popularity of those books are what led to the end of ever seeing something of the like ever again, something that (in most cases) wouldn't happen today.
