This has been a frustration for me for years. I want younger people to have better, and then they in turn can make the world even better for the next generation.
I have naturally slender, hooded eyes and I'm black. Several members in my family also have these eyes. I got a lot of shit in elementary school for them that I was extremely insecure about my eye-shape for years. Seeing people attack black women for having this feature is so fucking dumb. asianfishing as a term is inaccurate, in and of itself. you can’t label everybody who imitates or tries to look EAST ASIAN, specifically (the fox eye, for example) because not all asians are east asians. asianfishing is never used for malaysians, indians, filipinos, etc. there needs to be a separate term for people who are obsessed with east asian culture (weeaboos, koreaboos, etc.) separately.

abt the minimum wage: absolutely correct, was really disappointed to see so many "progressives" arguing in defense of the economy instead of advocating for a *liveable* wage
The thing is that it doesn't even help the economy either! Like study after study has shown that people actually work harder and better if they are being paid well. Plus, capitalism relies on consumers which is why millennial are "killing businesses" because they just don't have money to spend. And these people defending shit minimum wages don't understand that THEY are paying for these people! Our taxes should not be going to pay for people who have a job, that's their boss's responsibility. And that's less money for people who Can't work for whatever reason and need help. But because the rich don't pay taxes, the working class foots the bill. The system is so insanely corrupt it makes me sick.
And with the student loan thing, I think we're going to have an economic crash similar to the one in 2008 because this is literally the exact same thing except instead of giving housing loans to people they know can't pay it back they're doing it with student loans. And with the insane interest on these loans it's only speeding up the process. But just like in 2008 there will be no consequences for any of these people and it will be the working class suffering the consequences as always. None of this is good for the economy, it's only good for a handful of evil parasites.
and it's so damn frustrating because Biden's plan is to increase the min wage to $15 by *2025* By that point, it'll hardly make any difference with inflation probably. We need to regulate these *companies* who get away with profiting off labor exploitation.

My mom is a teacher and she's really frustrated at the push to open the schools back up because what ends up inevitably happening is that the schools shut down again when things get worse. My mom being a teacher also points out why teens deserve a decent wage, since a lot of high school students are contributing to their families. Last thing: I'm embarrassed that things got this bad because people couldn't stay at home for a couple of weeks to keep the transmission rate down. Okay real last thing: podcasting is not a default and that shouldn't be a controversial state. If you have something to say, sure, start a podcast. Small business will go out of business though. Many people who own small businesses already pay above minimum wage as incentives for employees. If minimum wages goes up to 15 small business owners won't be able to afford that. We already went though a pandemic that was hard on small businesses and raising the minimum wages would be shitting on them again.
PS: Amazon already pays all its employees the livable wage people are requesting, because they can afford to do that, small businesses can't

It really is so sad for them. We would all love them back at school. My 3 yr old has not seen another child in almost a year, I cant imagine how damaging this has been to her social development. It is really hard and sad. But I will do everything to keep my family safe, and will not be responsible for hurting other people. We will stay in our walls, we are blessed to have those.

I agree my kid is 3 and I am so sad for how damaging this must be for her social development. She definitely misses other kids but I'm thankful that she is such a sweet happy girl. My hope is just that because they are young they will be able to adjust to whatever life is moving forward.

My baby sister is a public school teacher in Texas where our state gov has made it nearly impossible to close down in-person learning without losing all funding, and you have no idea how much it resonated with me to hear you call them murderers. It hit that place of hurt and rage that has been sitting in my chest for MONTHS that they would just send my BABY SISTER with no PPE, no testing, no vaccine, into that building every day with her little kiddos who can’t wear masks because they are autistic and can’t stand the feeling of the fabric on their face.
