    Thank you for the excellent classes. I have seen them all through and really appreciate now the importance of repetitive practice. My drawing feels much more natural. You also gave me the revelation that good shading looks better than clumsy smudging, who knew! Thanks again.

    Wow I have never drawn anything before. I've completed your lessons within a week and now I can at least draw circles, ellipses and shapes so much much better. You're a fantastic teacher and you really helped me to push through. When you've never drawn facing yiur first blank page is terrifying. When I perform live, I have no fear, but drawing is scary because of the fact that as a newbie chances are you may fail horrendously. I've got new hope that I may actually be able to develop the skills to do this!!! Thank you so much.

      Thanks for your comment, its great to hear your perspective. I find performing live terrifying...😅 so Im glad to hear these videos have made drawing less scary!
      Keep in mind that drawing is all about failing. In every drawing I fail and correct my mistakes, fail and correct. It will never be perfect from the first mark which can be demoralising until you realise it is actually all part of the drawing process :)

    Hi, I have done 1 - 8 and plan to do some more of your videos at random; and do sample other instructors as well. I generally started in February and I can definitely see improvement. It is curious to me that at times I struggle and don't feel happy with what is on the paper, but sometimes when I glance at my work from the previous day, I think, "That's not bad." Some sleep and looking from a bit farther away and from a different angle helps. I started your vids in late April or early May.

    • @ThePencilRoomOnline
      @ThePencilRoomOnline  Год назад

      That’s awesome you’re seeing improvement! Yes you’re right, some distance from your drawing gives you a fresh perspective. If you are aware of that, you can use it - walk away when you feel that frustration or even set a timer so you’re not working too long without a break.
      Congrats on keeping up the practice - that’s the hardest part! And thanks for watching and for sharing your experience 😊

    I’ve loved these lessons. I’m a beginner and this doesn’t come naturally. Can you explain what all the different pencil are? I have a bunch of different pencils: H, 2H, 2B,HB, B, 3B, 4B, and more. I don’t have a good grasp on what they mean and what they are good for.

    • @ThePencilRoomOnline
      @ThePencilRoomOnline  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks Ann. Very briefly, the H stands for Hard and hard pencils are sharp and light and get lighter the higher the number - 5H is harder and therefore lighter than 2H.
      The B stands for Black and B pencils are soft and dark and get darker the higher the number. 6B is darker and blacker than 2B.
      So you'd use different pencils depending on what you want to achieve and what stage of the drawing you are at. In these videos I usually use HB or 2B so it can be seen but if I was starting a drawing on my own I'd use something light like a 2H to get the shapes and lines on paper and then move to a darker pencil like a 2B when I was ready to add darker shading and lines, and use a very dark pencil like a 4B or 6B at the end to add in very dark details.
      Check out this video for a more thorough explanation and a demonstration of how you can test your pencils: ruclips.net/video/kBSYi1VpsnE/видео.html
