Ramen is one of the staple dish that you can probably have it everyday and wouldnt get sick of it. And most ramen restaurant you go to will not taste bad so its a safe choice if you dont know what to eat when out alone or with your friends. And the white romance chocolate thingy you can find it in the more expensive candy store and i believe there are english name for it or other brand similar to it but i cant remember.
I find Japanese ramen bland and greasy. I mean its not bad tasting but people act like they're eating out a victorias secret model. Am i missing something?

I just came back from Tokyo, Japan and I tried different ramen restaurants too. Ichiran was my favorite, too! The soup was flavorful and the pork was great as well. I bought the to go boxes to make at home. I hope it tastes just as good.

I liked ramen but any ramen was just ramen to me. Went to Japan last month to visit family and they happened to live in Osaka. I researched foods to eat and came upon your channel regarding Ichiran. I was more intrigued by the spice level than anything. I've seen you eat some of the spiciest food but at the same time said the peppers at In and Out were "hot" (and I snack on those). Anyway, I manned up and got spice level 10 and found it a comfortable spice level. What's been a surprise to me is how good Ichiran was! Good as in, a month later and I'm still craving the taste! I even had extra chasu, extra noddles, and finished the broth. Been on a ramen rampage since I got back to LA trying to find anything that comes close. Tatsu might be the closest but its still a long stretch. At the very least, I now know how to distinguish one ramen from another.
i love those cookies too!!!! They're the best!! i only saw them at the airport though when we went to Japan in March. we have a version of those in the philippines called "lengua de gato" - named as such because of the shape. it tastes similar, but not as flaky and no white chocolate in the middle.
Been to ippudo, ichiran, tsuta in japan.... best ramen in japan definitely Yashichi in Osaka... get the 980 yen version to get the delicious char grilled chicken meat... the broth has a delicious charred meat taste to it
I have to agree with you on this. I've had it in bklyn and it just was not the same as what I had in dotonbori Osaka. I guess its one of those things like NYC pizza. just simply cannot be replicated anywhere else. will be back in Japan end of year so I may have to try this original spot!
hi evi, everyone's taste buds are different and usually very subjective so i honestly cannot say what's best or worse. i've been to many ramen places in nyc. i think ichiran is def up there. the first 2 times i went i thought the broth was a bit lighter than what i had in japan, but nonetheless, still great.

I totally agree. The more you eat it. The more you want to eat it. Hubby and I get this ramen everytime we go. We do a lot of business when in the place you had your first bowl. Yes, we always get an extra bowl with egg.

Ichiran is overrated and a tourist trap. Just walk around, find a ramen shop with many locals in it, the place is going to be good.

There is a good less crowded Ichi Ran in Canal City in Fukuoka. And, a Taito Station in same building to play some UFO Catcher games after!
