    It took me forever to find a good video on this install. You nailed it! After watching your video, it took me about 30 minutes and saved me about $200 in labor of having someone else do it. Bravo! 👏🏾

    Thanks a ton for you excellent video. Just finished following your exact steps on a 2023 Atlas Cross Sport already equipped with a 7 pin tow package. Added a Curt brake controller and wiring harness and it was a breeze! Good job on the video.

    I just bought a 2021 Atlas cross sport V6, SEL Premium and when i ask the dealer if i needed to have a brake controller installed they told me no. They said this vehicle's tow package can sense the trailer and somehow activate the electric brakes

    • @thefricklife7288
      @thefricklife7288  3 года назад

      I haven't ever heard that before I don't think vw would place wires for the brake controller up behind the a pillar if the car could self adjust the electric brakes I could be wrong but haven't ever heard of such

  • @ROBERTLUCIAn
    @ROBERTLUCIAn Год назад

    I think you're wrong by saying that having the tow package means you have the quick plug behind the trim. The plug is there regardless of tow package or not.

    • @thefricklife7288
      @thefricklife7288  11 месяцев назад

      in newer models they started putting the plug in all of them but if you don't have the tow package you will also need to install a tow module.

    This video was super helpful! But, I'm having trouble with the wiring harness. I purchased the same controller (CURT 51140 TriFlex) on Amazon along with the Curt 51522 wiring harness that you reverenced. But the harness does NOT fit my 2019 Atlas. The connector on the harness is larger than the one on the vehicle. The packaging that came with my 51522 harness lists compatibility with only Audi vehicles up to 2017. No mention of the Atlas. Any ideas?

    Late to the party, my '18 Atlas required a 51528 (ran into the same issue with the 51522 (the box indicates it's for the Audi SUVs). Curt told me 51522. eTrailer told me 51528... eTrailer was right. Got it hooked up and calibrated. Pulling a 3500 lb Keystone single axle. Triflex is clicking while I'm driving... kinda feels like driving with the e-brake partially engaged. Anyone else have this issue?

      yeah seems like there was a issue I ordered mine from ebay it wasn't a name brand but matched up to my plug

    • @unkletravelingmatt
      @unkletravelingmatt 2 года назад +1

      @@thefricklife7288 you're towing a similar trailer to mine, does your Triflex intermittently click quickly and display a number (typically between 3.0 and 4.5)? Sometimes while accelerating, sometimes when coasting at speed above 30 mph... my friend followed me in his vehicle and confirmed that the brake lights on the trailer aren't coming while the clicks are happening on but there's no way of knowing if the trailer brakes are engaging during the clicking I'm experiencing. Thanks for the video btw... was a big help!

    • @unkletravelingmatt
      @unkletravelingmatt 2 года назад +1

      @@thefricklife7288 got it calibrated pretty easily at the dealership, braking with the trailer is fairly smooth, no surges or sensation of being pushed by the trailer. Triflex is mounted pretty much at a flat 90°. It'll display the single dot while driving and then out of nowhere, clicking and flashing numbers on the readout. I'm going to take the kick panel apart, disconnect and plug everything back in, recalibrate and see if it's still present or if it goes away.
