  • Living in Todos Santos in Baja California Sur here in Mexico has been absolutely incredible. One month was enough to explore, go hiking, see lots of whales, and eat TONS of seafood. Where to next?!

Not needing a car is high on my list of attractive qualities for a place. I rarely hear anyone agree with me on that. Appreciate your perspective on various places.

    • @prime8nate
      @prime8nate 3 года назад

I was just there and I certainly don't believe you need a car to live there. A mountain bike with a rack and panniers works great if you're used to riding bikes and investing in decent bikes. You could get an e bike if you really think the hills are too much. Some people rode ATVS or motorcycles around. The one thing is that it can be a very dusty experience because not much is paved in TS....although at the rate it's growing that may be changing.

Well you write it perfectly, so don't apologize! You are doing great and you speak two languages vs one which most americans only speak one although many do speak multiple languages if they live in large cities like LA, NYC, MIAMI etc. Anyhow don't apologize for your english. Bravo to you that you adventure out and seek life and play it large rather than small and safe.

I drove down the peninsula from Colorado back in the late 90’s….camped on the beach at Cerritos for a month so Todos Santos was our go to town for supplies…amazing town! I loved how it was old school shopping like go to the bakery for bread and go to the butcher for meat and go to produce stand…amazing fresh food! I’m sure it’s grown a bit since the 90’s but we were the only 2 people camping at Cerritos for days on end…some people would show up on weekends…I plan on spending winters down there starting within hopefully the next 3-4!years…perfect job on the describing of Todos you did in this video….on point!

Todos Santos has always been my favorite place in BCS. I wanted to live there and we never materialized it. The town bakery in the back of the house with the big beehive oven has spoiled me forever with their hot pan dulces. We used to camp on a completely empty beach. Now there’s a resort there. So sad

Makes me want to go back there (I was there briefly in the late 80s) when I get a small RV... But I think central Mexico is going to be a better opportunity for us...more infrastructure, you know? But wow, miss Baja SOOOOOOOO much. Spent many, many long, wonderful camping trips in very out-of-the-way places...yes, and whale watching too. I stayed 10 days at Laguna San Ignacio with a group of people on the remote bay and the game warden took us out on the bay every day to interact (yes, touch even!) the friendly whales there. I was only 30 and it was the experience of a lifetime even in a life full of amazing experiences!
I've subscribed to your channel and look forward to following your adventures as I languish here on the wet, cold south Oregon coast trying to work out how to save enough to get that used RV and skedaddle south!

Until your video today, I've never had a clear idea of what the pueblo of Todos Santos looks like. Very impressive. It's much more than I'd imagined. The place that you rented looks incredible! Wow!
I haven't owned a car since the 1st of March, 2013. I walked exclusively (1,000' elevation change between where I lived and downtown) for one year in San Miguel de Allende. No Buses. No taxis. Then one year of exclusive walking in the mountains of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Since then, mostly biking and some walking in Newport Beach, California. And a lot of distance swimming. I'd be interested to know the reality of living in Huatulca,, Oaxaca. I did find online what looks like a good gym!

Yeah, the views of the wide streets and glimpses of the views from bicycle riding 8:03 were really great. I only wish they could have been longer and more revealing of the "great outdoors" that can be experienced in Todos Santos neighborhoods. Those desert peaceful trails made by small animals over the many decades are really memorable to me. I know the cinematography aspect might be difficult, but that's the Magdalena biome there near T.S. There are tiny clumps of heath species which capture the floss & dross with seeds blowing in the wind and help establish and nurture desert life. So seemingly ephemeral yet, they're really well established around T.S. Maybe you'll be exposed to amazing biomes elsewhere and be able to show us what's unique and memorable again. Thx2!

Nice video. I would love to visit there again. I love Baja and Mexico. My wife won’t go. When I was younger in 1982 some friends and drove down Baja We visited La Paz, Todos Santos and Cabo. Those places were very different than today. I always wanted to go back to Todos Santos and I did pass through on the bus from Cabo to Ensenada after doing a boat delivery to Cabo and having trouble getting a flight back. Hey I can recommend electric fat tire bikes for transportation. That are amazing. If you ever buy one make sure you buy a mid-drive model they can climb any hills. The fat tire bikes are awesome on sand and dirt and great in the road. Cheers enjoy La Paz.

Enjoyed your video on Todos Santos..how it's grown from my last visit to see the Hotel California in the 90's. I like how well you promote the restaurants and the wonderful character of the people. I always thought the whales were only visible in the Sea of Cortez. One tip... Mexico is known for it's lovely beaches so I thought it would have been nice to see you in the water. Nice job none the less..I'm a subscriber.

You can't swim in the beach here (plus not super interested in swimming with those hungry whales right off the shore! haha). The water is far too rough here and WAY too cold right now haha.

I went snorkeling near there once. Scary as hell! Absolutely beautiful, clear and unbelievable sea life. And yes, the whales will come right up to you. Seals too. But then you know no sharks are around. 😳😂

@@laura-bronner Just an FYI as a Todos Santos resident, experienced surfers love the waves and swimming with the whales, no worries about them eating people. There are baleen whales here (no teeth), humpbacks and grays. Gray whales come very close to shore, digging in the sand to eat crustaceans and the humpbacks can be seen a bit further out breaching like crazy (in the winter, mainly January and February), it's amazing! But yes, the water is too rough for most people to swim.

You just need to get decent Mountain Bikes that can handle the terrain and going up the steep hills. Looks like a terrific place to live.

Wife and I enjoy your videos. You’ve inspired us to try residing in todo santos. She has dual citizenship I’m working on residency. A bit discouraged on the rental prices. We’ve been looking and it’s tough finding anything in our price range. Trying to stay under 1,300 a month for 6-12 months but nada do far.

Have you checked with Ricardo Amigo Real Estate (RARE) - they are a great rental agency to check out in that area. But yes, Todos Santos has really spiked in prices and popularity since I was there two years ago. Cerritos and Pescadero may be a bit cheaper if you check that area.

That was a great video and the beaches look awesome and the hiking is something I would like to do and the one spot that looked like a pig or a alligator @ 6:07 was cool and picturesque. And Todos Santos is very under rated and I hope that when everyone is able to travel that they think about this place, because I will definitely will and would like to see the beaches and meet the people and eat the delicious food. And I always look forward to supporting my RUclipsr's always no matter what. Because I love learning about other culture's and the cost of living and the food & the positive about other country's as well as the United States. Well you and your husband have a great night and as always I will be looking forward to your next adventurous video.

    Fantastic video!
I do want to mention your improvements, but I will also acknowledge that I have never produced anything and my remarks are purely subjective and probably not shared by the general populace.
It was great the way you cut back and forth between your image and narration of the video and the scenes in and around where you are currently living. I’m sorry, but I had noticed in some of your previous videos, you would be talking to the camera and describing things around you, and you might do a twirl to show your background, but it was almost like you were keeping those things to yourself, not really showing what you were seeing.
This video was so different! In the scene at the beach, you described seeing the whales, THEN YOU SHOWED US THE WHALES! I was almost shouting to myself YES, YES, YES!
Please keep videos like this coming!

There are amazing places in the peninsula but you need a car, for example you can do a loop tour in the penisula start in La Paz, go to Todos Santos, Cerritos and Cabos San Lucas, and then to San Jose del Cabo, Los Barriles, Cabo Pulmo( a Divers heaven), Miraflores and other small towns and you will arrive to Todo Santos or La Paz
