  • Think of a powerlifter at a powerlifting comp benching 200kg. What does this athlete need in order to perform this movement, he or she needs the ability to push with explosive and powerful technique. Now think if they don't know how to position themselves correctly in that given moment in time, like the positioning of their shoulders. what if their shoulder internally rotate and elbows start to flare out. WELL THAT IS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER. A powerlifter knows that to perform any upper body pushing movement they need to create a sufficient amount of torque through their shoulders, as well as keeping a strong brace to insure a neutral spine is maintained.
    So what does this all mean, SIMPLE if you know how to perform a push up correctly (thanks to my previous video on the push up :p) you will know how to implement a strong push set up in a bench press or in fact anything in life that requires to push in a horizontal plane.

    Workout:
    Bench press + Bent over row 4x10
    Incline barbell bench press 4x10
    Cable flys + rear delt flys 4x15
    Dips + close grip chin ups 3x10
