Love it! Being more accustomed to fender basses Ive actually been using my Sub series stingray for over a year now with that configuration (no preamp, just a volume/tone setup). Changed the pots for some more suited for a passive circuit and honestly i have not missed the preamp one bit lol
I know Pete Wentz has a lot of haters but he is a clever lyricist and has a knack for churning out a decent, affordable signature instrument.
Really digging the sound! Love the look too and the sweet roasted maple neck.👍
Cool looking bass and nice, simple electronics. It features the same colours as a 2007 Precision Classic Vibe 50's I owned years ago.
Love unboxing videos
As always, GREAT review Johnny! No bollocks! How's the weight? I'm thinking about ordering one but not if it's a bloody boat anchor. Cheers, mate! Love your reviews man.
The bass looks amazing! I've been itching to add a Stingray to my collection since I sold my Ray5, might be sold on this one once I see your full review lol.
It’s meant to be.
really outstanding shots! :)
The real reviews look a lot better than the phone filmed unboxing!
I’m happy Pete is still doing deals happy for my hero I’ll cop
Not normally a Stringray fan but that's quite nice.
Stunning kit
Aye, she’s a looker
This is a great formula for them to follow for a non signature! So I can get a 5 string passive with a roasted neck for less than $1000... just saying
Mike Herrera of MXPX has a signature American Stingray and they are all passive as well
Pete is the reason I play bass. (Not saying hes a great player)
I NEED this bass.
That bass looks so damn good dude
Jonny, looks like the link to Sterling's website in the descriptions is in need of some fixin' 😉. I'm not much of a fan of signature models most of the times, but this one looks and sounds preeeetty great and it ticks a lot of boxes from my list of preferences for basses..simple layout, good colors'scheme, passive..will wait for the full review!
Aha! Good man. Fixed 👍
It’s not as in your face compared to his old sig haha. Cheers!
Looks amazing and it would be better if the nut was black :)
Sound pretty good too. Can't wait a full review! :)
Thanks!
This actually feels like poayibe news for once, love a signature and the red version is ❤. Whens the full review coming 😊
Love this, and from what i have seen it comes in another color is expected to retail for $650 USD
That’s right!
Sounds good! But also...looks killer :) with the drive it sounds super stingray-y I think, that was what I'd expect to hear from a full on active one. Is it also lighter than the regular ones? (Less stuff on board also the body wood is sth Ive never heard of before)
Its great! It’s about 9.2lbs. So not massively lighter
I don't know man i kinda miss the control plate. Was kinda a central point to the stingray
Looks and sounds really good! Hopefully an affordable option for a Musicman… Does it come as a lefty???
Retailing for $650, priced right I think!
Super sick!
Really cool!
@@JonnyDibble you know what’s up with the duck inlay?
Also any chance you’re gonna demo the Multiscale Ibanez btb’s?
When you do the full demo can you open the back and find out the value (250-500-1meg) of the pots and cap value this kinda sounds on par with the old musicman sub basses they made back in the early 2000’s some came in passive with bass and treble cuts kinda like G&l basses do. Wondering if there using 1 Meg pots like old ones did.
I’ll try to remember to check!!
Yeah I'd buy that
On my phone it sound really really good.
Dude i just bought the squier one and now he just release this one 😂😂😂
The illegitimate child of a Stingray and a P-Bass. Kind of interesting! (Also, does that pickup have its coils wired in series like a P-Bass, or in parallel like a regular Stingray?)
Please tell me this is going to be available in the UK, especially the fiesta red version 😍 nice video man 🤙
Yeah it will! 😁
Amazing can't wait! Been tempted by the standard ray4 but now this has been released I might have to spend a little extra! Hopefully the price doesn't change too much when converting from US to UK like normal 😂 as $649 seems like a steal!
That last riff with the dirt on is absolutely filthy!
Absolute FILTH
May I ask what the neck width is at the nut?@@JonnyDibble
I think I read 43
@@kerrrobin sorry I missed this! Yes 43mm nut width
Yes! Nice to have it confirmed, thanks.@@JonnyDibble
You look like the pizza dude from Something About Mary. Lol. Dig the channel and subscribed.
Wow sounds great with some dirt!
How much does it weight?
Noooo where is my wallet T.T I'm a sucker for passive basses, and a passive Ray, well, is just on the spot now that I'm looking for new tones for the next recording session I've got in very few months. Looking forward the full review of this piece then
What OD/DI are you using for the last shop? sounds nasty!
That’s the Darkglass Clone built into the HX Stomp 😊
@@JonnyDibble OMG! Sounds great! I have a b7kU and a Ray34 and it sounds nice but not like that (i know it's different almost everything).
Good for having played dance dance, but sugar was missing😅
Nice bass, love the config, did something very similar with my Ray4. Surprised he’s moving to a new signature bass, it’s been 15 years since his last sig came out and word on the street is that’s the age he likes em at.
Whose even saying that?
I cant help but compare with the joe dirt signature bass. Its for those who like money and more features...
1 more feature 🤣🤪
@@JonnyDibble I count the roasted maple neck as the second feature. Either way, I want this
This is a video you wasn't expecting to make okay buddy😂😂😂
Yep!
It has a duck inlay...SOLD!
Thanks for playing Dance Dance. Wouldve been a sin not to.
Didn't realise you had won the lottery. Congrats😂
The bass lottery!
That’s alllllll kinds of naughty
Absolute sorty
The signature P bass was overpriced for what it was.. even more so second hand. Lets hope this one isnt silly money.
Yeah it’s “rare” now!
In my country, this bass is the same price as the mike kerr signature. this sterling is not good value.
Haven't had much much luck with sterling basses. They all are built pretty crap
Out of the 4 I’ve owned, I only didn’t really like 1
They play nice enough. And I love the sound , but just construction quality isn't the best..
Sounds great to be honest, but unfortunately Pete Wentz was a creeper and I'd never wanna be associated with his signature.
What the fuck are you talking about
