      Wrestling is a better base. It's not even close. BJJ guys that sprinkle in wrestling are just BJJ guys with bad wrestling. And when they meet a person with good wrestling their below average wrestling won't work.

    • @LazerJet27
      @LazerJet27 Месяц назад +11

      BJJ as an MMA base definitely can work but wrestling is usually a better base.
      Brian Ortega, Jacare Souza, Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, and Gilbert Burns would all be examples of fighters who started with BJJ bases but then improved their wrestling skills in order to secure takedowns. They’ve all had successful MMA careers.
      Usually wrestling is better though because wrestlers can secure/defend the takedown to dictate whether the fight is standing or goes to the ground. If they can take opponents down, even if they don’t have great BJJ, they can still score with GnP and control.
      If a BJJ fighter doesn’t have the wrestling skills to take an opponent down, they likely won’t even get to use their BJJ and will just be forced into a striking match (this is the challenge that fighters like Mackenzie Dern, Rodolfo Vieira, and Marcus Almeida are trying to overcome).

    Gi vs no gi. Both are valid. I say that for a reason. First, let me say, due to my experiences in street fights in my black areas of the Midwest, USA, I've always experienced grabbing and grappling STARTING from the standing postion, like I notice Judo 🥋 players do.
    Back to the gi vs no gi. This is similar to me like arguing over knife vs gun.
    In Southern California and Miami "life" to people in these areas is T-shirts 👕 most of the year.
    Let me ask you something how the f__k do I apply the T-shirt and dismiss jackets, when most months out of the year in Milwaukee, WI require wearing a jacket? Winter ☃️🧥❄️🥶 months can be thick, heavy, hooded jackets.
    Furthermore, February is near certain to bring not only tempts below ZERO, but strong blowing winds 🌬️ with it, AND thick sheets of ice 🧊🧊🧊 encrusting the sidewalks. How the hell do you apply the California T-shirt 👕 cool 😎 dude style, to grappling on your back against 1, 2, 4 guys?
    Bear in mind the physical cost to pay if you get knocked out, in the kind of frigid environment. You quickly get frostbite 🥶 or left long enough, x number of minutes, you may die (freeze to death).
    Siberia is worse. The coldest city on Earth is in Siberia and they frequently get temps of NEGATIVE 45 degrees Fahrenheit. They have to either leave their cars running all day, 24/7 or they have to cover the eniter outer car with an electric blanket made exactly for putting over cars, otherwise their cars won't start up.
