This is exactly what I like about this channel! Rather then spewing out pieces we already know and are already on RUclips, you're introducing me to a wider range of arrangements and compositions as well as artists I'd never normally come across
You can tell just by looking at the note fall that this midi is synced to a live performance of this piece. The chords in the left hand march bassline notes that are longer than the actual note sounds in the audio making this have the characteristic transcription look.
Shy HD It honestly depends on how often you practice it because the right hand's quite repetitive and not that difficult and the left hands nearly the same. I've only been playing for about two years too and I'm practicing it right now as well but it doesn't seem that difficult. You should be fine learning it about now 😀 Just make sure you keep the fingering consistent in the left hand chords
I hear way more of "Temptation Rag" in here (particularly the second theme) than "Maple Leaf". I don't hear any of "Maple Leaf" at all in the first two themes. I only start to hear "Maple Leaf" at about 1:06, but it's in minor, and it's the broken-chord arpeggiated right hand figure of the B theme, which did NOT originate with that rag but dated back years earlier (probably derived from banjo ragtime). For one thing, that broken-chord figure is found extensively in Max Hoffman's "Ragtime Medley" published in 1897, among other pieces. The rest of this rag seems fairly original to me and this is a good one!
Oh yay, thanks for the explanation, guys. :) But, God, for someone who jumped right on the piano after marching for that long, you have a lot of stamina. o_0

Sounds a lot like the maple leaf rag, and that’s not a bad thing at all
How is this in any way similar to Maple Leaf Rag?
This piece definitely sounds like a classic rag. But the Maple Leaf in particular, as opposed to ragtime in general? I don't think so.
