I have always thought that this was an easy, accurate way to cut down shells. For an even more accurate cut, have the "keeper" piece ride on the table and the "cut off" on the top to avoid messing around with shims to keep the shell level and keep the truing sanding to a minimum.

Did you have trim the wrap from the new edge for head clearance to match the other side?

That would destroy the bearing edge assuming you want to keep it as is.

Yes. I use a table saw myself. Also...I would have went with 14" instead of 11".
