Melania Trump, Donald Trump’s wife, was born in Slovenia and came to the U.S. as an immigrant. She later became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2006, and her parents also gained U.S. citizenship through family reunification-what Trump has referred to as “chain migration,” despite benefiting from it personally. As for their son, Barron Trump, he was born in the U.S., making him a natural-born citizen under the very same 14th Amendment Trump has criticized. If birthright citizenship were removed retroactively (an idea some opponents have floated), it could indeed have raised questions about the status of children born to non-citizen parents in the U.S.-including cases like Barron’s. This is part of the contradiction many have pointed out. Trump’s rhetoric about immigration sometimes overlooks how his own family has benefited from the very systems he critiques. For example: His mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, was an immigrant from Scotland. His paternal grandfather, Friedrich Trump, emigrated from Germany. It highlights a recurring irony: many who speak out against immigration often have deep personal or family ties to it. If the same restrictions Trump proposes had been in place decades ago, his own family might not have had the opportunities they did!

Developed countries do have the right to protect their borders; however, they should also return the lands that were taken and provide compensation for the exploitation that occurred during the colonial era.
The thing i dont understand is. Do people not realise that this will cost far more to do than allowing them to stay? It will hurt farmers as they can hire them to pick on their farms. The economy experts have shown that this will make prices rise. Unless someone can show me a paper/story/report that say otherwise.
It will bring up wages for american workers because the companies will have to pay them a living wage to get them to do the work. Exploiting slave labor is bad.
Anthony Edo, "The Impact of Immigration on the Labor Market", Journal of Economic Surveys, Vol. 33 (2019), pp. 922-948. Similar in content to the National Academies’ chapters, this review paper takes a more international perspective. After considering over 50 studies of immigration in developed countries, the author concludes that “immigration can create winners and losers among the native-born workers”. Because low-skill immigration tends to make low-skill natives the “losers” and high-skill natives the “winners”, rising inequality is a natural consequence. This conclusion stands in stark contrast to the advocates’ position that “there is no evidence that immigrants hurt any American workers”. While some Americans gain from immigration, others certainly do lose. Joseph Price, Christian vom Lehn, and Riley Wilson, "The Winners and Losers of Immigration: Evidence from Linked Historical Data", NBER Working Paper Series, No. 27156 (2020). Updated 2023. This paper acknowledges the winner-loser framework right in its title. The authors use genealogical data to track millions of men between decennial censuses in the early 20th century. Following these individuals allows the authors to improve upon past research that focused only on community-level impacts of immigration. They find that older and higher-skilled workers were the “winners” - their incomes tended to go up when immigrants entered their local labor market. By contrast, younger and less-skilled workers were the “losers” - they were more likely to move away and suffer income losses as a result of immigration. In the modern-day context, CIS has emphasized that immigration tends to have strong disemployment effects on the youngest and least-skilled Americans of all: teenagers.
Imagine if these Central and South Americans fought back against the cartels in their home countries instead of fleeing here? They would outnumber the cartels and see positive change.
It's hard to form an opinion about immigration in the UK because the UK government refuses to publish what the data show regarding employment and criminality statistics of immigrants. The Dutch government have been brave enough to do that and it's very interesting reading.
Liberals and supporters of illegal immigration are encouraging and assisting individuals in breaking the law. It is disheartening that those in favor of unlawful immigration fail to see the bigger picture. Consider the examples of the UK, Italy, South Africa, and other nations where unchecked migration has had severe consequences on economies and communities. Legal immigration, particularly when it involves skilled and highly educated individuals, is beneficial for a country's development. However, the current situation in the United States is far from this ideal. As legal immigrants and minorities who followed the proper channels to migrate, we strongly oppose illegal immigration. It is unfair to us and to Americans who were born and raised here. Remember, the law is impartial-it does not consider race, religion, or geographic origin. It applies to all equally.
@mayo0006 that's why the countries need to build up their economy for supply and demand! What third world countries pay their workers is not our problem!

We are getting “hit” from both directions says the Migrant Shelter Director. Well, welcome to our world.
We need this for Europe too.
Excuse me! most Europeans were the same people that murdered, raped and sold my ancestors.
I'm not black by the way. However, we have made peace with the past until now.
For example:
His mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, was an immigrant from Scotland.
His paternal grandfather, Friedrich Trump, emigrated from Germany.
It highlights a recurring irony: many who speak out against immigration often have deep personal or family ties to it. If the same restrictions Trump proposes had been in place decades ago, his own family might not have had the opportunities they did!

The US citizens had the discussion about illegal immigration on November 5th 2024
Britain and indeed Europe needs a man like this as our leader.
It starts with democracy and then the people vote. That’s why socialism and communism take away your freedoms.
Tell that to those that the British invaded and screwed over. 😂
@mathewanthony1264 Britain hasn't invaded anywhere in many years, so what has the current state Europe or modern politics got to do with it?????
If you want to talk history, that's fine I can do that as probably educate you at the same time...
They should also overhaul the immigration system. We have millions of talented, hardworking undocumented immigrants waiting their turn to become citizens. We should give them a chance!
Illegal aliens NOT “undocumented migrants”. Remain in Mexico is also back THANK GOD!

Furthermore, do we live in the same country? The nhs is functioning better than a majority of hospitals in the world. How many people do you see with malformed arms or legs because they couldn’t afford to treat a broken bone?

how does one "betray" them with billionaires? a place either has demand for cheap labour, or it doesnt.
From what I've read that is not true. Immigrants (illegal or legal) make wages higher for citizens of their new country. @TheEverFreeKing

The US economy was just fine before the border was overrun under Biden, migrants had to have a H2A visa to work agriculture. You are a know nothing 🤡
Dustbowl 2 coming your way soon!

I was born in Germany, but my parents were immigrants. Both came the 'right' way and had to take tests to be granted citizenship. They studied hard and made it. Mum had to take it multiple times before she passed. I now live in the UK married to an Italian- whose parents had to go through similar circumstances. Immigration can be a great thing for the country and the people, but it needs to be done in a controlled and just matter. Illegal entry is Illegal.
