Agree with many of the other comments about your attitude towards your subs and our needs and desires. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, as a recently retired teacher, I’m enjoying the education I receive within every video you post. As a newbie, I’m still checking out other folks for more info, but yours is the “class” I never skip. 😎👍 Loved that $100 model, but the beauty of those frogs is the way they tied in the characteristics of the creatures they emulate with the practical benefits of a well designed lure to attract fish. Smart, clever designs are a sign of a company worth keeping.
Thank you for being so informative! It’s a breath of fresh air to watch someone that shares their opinion on practicality instead of looks of the product and money in their pocket.
Hey Debo I’m not good with Technology but Just wanted You To Know That THAKS TO YOU I FINALLY LEARNED HOW TO CAST MY BAITCASTERS OVER HAND AND ALL WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS AND TECHNIQUES 🙌THANK BRO REALLY APPRECIATE IT. 💯🙌👍👊KEEP UP THE GOOD CONTENT. OUT FROM CALI 💯🤘👍👊🙌🎣🎣🎣
Thanks for the video Debo. With so many rod options, it's hard to try them all. Can't say that I would buy a Halo, but you never know I guess. Tight lines my friend. 🎣🤘😷🙏
just picked up two Halo's last week , both 6' 10" , a KS II Elite medium, rated 6-12# line , 1/8-1/2 oz lures and an HFX medium, rated 10-14# line, 1/4-5/8 oz lures , both casting, and man do I love these rods, light, sensitive and really good looking too. I'm using the KS II Elite for weightless flukes, senkos , & plastic swimbaits and the HFX for light spinnerbaits & light shallow cranks 1-5 ft. these rods feel amazing !!! picked em up for $100 each
I picked up a couple of the Black Widows from Halo. A local shop had them black Friday for $75.00 each. My first Halos as well. Can't wait to try them out. Looking forward to your on the water review of yours. Thanks for a good video again.
Those frogs were a killer bonus. Zombie frog💯 nice review! Love that $100 rod. Kind of a no brained if you’re looking for something in that price range.
Another good video. I'm in the market for new rods for sometime. Been shopping around and doing my homework on what suits me and my style. Keep up the good work dude.
I just popped for a high end rod. I ordered a Dobyns Champion Extreme HP Split Grip Casting Rod in 7 foot heavy. I'm going to pair it up wit the Shimano Curado DC.
Good looking rods. My days of ordering rods without being able to handle one are over. When I am tempted to buy a $100+ rod I just go and get another St Croix Triumph rod from my local DSG or a Premier IMO they are the perfect balance of quality and great value for the price.
Enjoying the heck out of your content, lots of entertainment and great information. Been going back to older videos to watch those. Keep up the awesome work.
I've had some good experiences with my Halo. No complaints here so far. Mine is a MH Fast, I have it paired with a AG Pro Max (nothing special) 15lb Flouro and i use a variety of baits on it. It's pretty versatile.
Hi from Canada, great video! I want to try a halo rod, and I can get the ks 2 for $120 on sale, or get the hfx for $170, would you say it’s worth the extra $50?
I was running errands last night couldn't watch you and Randizzle live. Watched it when I got home. Love ❤️ those frogs! Someone has a good imagination for those color schemes. I would throw all 3. I bought the Halo XD III a couple months ago after watching Joe Simpson's video. I bought that exact one and got it for $87. I really like it. I paired it with my SixGill Hamarr. Thank you for making a gloomy Saturday morning better with my ☕ coffee. I am sure the other rod you will like also. I'm not so big on the lime florescent green, though. Checkerboard is ok but the green strips are a bit overpowering to me. Good video 👍
Those rods look sick especially the green one. Have to really see how they perform since it’s unknown brand to me. Like how they ship. Also bonus frogs!!! They knew how to market to ol Debo.
Picked up a 7'2 H KSII Elite for Froggin' after watching this vid. Haven't been able to get on the water yet to try it out but it looks and feels sweet. You're right about the reel seat, I have medium size hands and it feels a bit big BUT it's still very comfortable. I also tried pairing the rod with both a spooled 150 and 200 size reel (SLX XT & Curado 200i) and the 200 size reel filled out my hand better, was more comfortable and had better balance. The balance point on the 200 was at the top of the reel seat threads, where the 150 balanced about an inch above it. Either size is fine IMO but I think a 200 size will be more comfortable if you're working a frog all day. I also have a 7'2H SLX rod and use it for froggin' as well. I'd say the KSII is stiff with good back bone but has more tip than the SLX, which may have to do with the rod being rated for lures up to 1oz vs the SLXs rating of up to 1.5oz. The KSII is probably better for working smaller frogs but can probably handle a 'River2sea Bully Wa 2 65 (4/5oz frog)' just fine. These are just my first impressions but I hope this is useful feedback for anyone interested in buying this rod. Debo I'd be really interested to hear what you think about the rod now that you've had it for a bit; maybe a follow-up vid is in order lol 😝?? P.S. it seems the lure rating info on American Baitworks is incorrect but the rod info on Tackleware is correct (TW also gives accurate rod actions). Be safe out there and tight lines! Cheers
Love love love all the scum frogs. They are AWESOME!!!!! Thank you sir for always trying to keep us informed !!!! You sir are the quintessential RUclips PERSONALITY!!!!!!
I was looking at both those rods but I went with the Phenix Maxim (73ML) and Phenix Feather series (71MH) instead. They both seem great but I am especially impressed with the maxim, which tackle warehouse had for $89!!
Debo, super stoked to see a review on halo rods, I've been looking at the halo black widow and the daiwa tatula xt. I've seen several great reviews on the tatula and your review of halo is the first I've seen besides the pro staff reviews for halo. Which rod would you suggest? They're right around the same price point currently. Tight lines feeshin friend
You should try the ugly stick carbon rod. They are under $75 . No need to order the rod Walmart has them for $66 for the rod. And the lightest rod I have ever had. I own close to 40 rods and reels. From ice rods to heavy rods and everything in between. The halo rods look good. My self the zombie frog is my favorite.
Never used Halo before but the SLX and Fury are hard to beat almost until the Zodias price range of 180-200. I sold 90% of my dobyns but kept a Fury 734 just for it's versatility and everything else is getting switched over to Megabass technique specific rods, Mainly Destroyers but for moving baits the Levante will work fine but are still sensitive enough for bottom contact if needed.
That's a great looking rod! (Fishing really has too many double entendres) Looking forward to some more of the line/reel/rod relationship videos. Keep it up Debo. I love what you are doing.
I'd like to see what you think of Falcon Rods. I got a Falcon Bucco SR Med Fast for Jerks and Bills. I thinks it's a great rod....though I don't have many rods so I can't really compare it to much.
As far as looks.. the first one looks great. I got smaller hands too so that one right up my alley. Color matching is not all that important, but would look sweet paired with an Okuma Helios SX (silver with orange accents). The zombie frog was awesome, would just hang it up on a wall so not to loose that really cool looking lure 😁
I want those froggs! I almost bought the mega bass halloween lures. I collect halloween stuff. Next year I'll have to set aside a budget for special edition lures.
I really like that KS elite rod. Sounds like it would be a good chatterbait rod with its rating. Probably has a good parabolic bend, but a good stiff backbone.
I wish my Walmart would get that red Halo that I showed you. They have been out for a couple months. Nice little addiction to your rod and reel arsenal. I should actually be getting a package in today. It was my only Black Friday purchase. Lew’s TP1 Black. Should be here today
Check out the Jason Christie Series Falcon Rods at $99.99 on TW. I have the crankbait version and it's pretty darn sensitive. Paired it with a silver max. It's my favorite combo that I own.
U should try Scott Canterbury signature rod from Halo. I got a 7'3 extra medium heavy and they're like 99$ but u can find them sub- tad over 100$ the lee's classic pro is a great budget reel as well coming in at under 70$ for the shimano caius the newer 7.1.1 model again under 100$ reel.. but halo has some great rods definitely check out that rod.
Great Review; I probably will not purchase a Halo for myself, as I already have way too many rods and am pretty brand specific. I do have three sons, one of them will get one and let him put it use...
Debo, The $100 rod looks real nice. Price is not always a determinate of quality and performance. I like what you said about the manufacturer’s rating systems. That is why I always cross my fingers when ordering online. I wish they made that rod in a Med Light or Light. I am going to buy a Curado 70 MGL and looking for a light powered rod in the 6’ 10” to 7’ 2” range. I want to toss shaky heads, finesse swim jigs and weightless plastics on it.
When the price of a rod goes up the weight of the rod usually goes down. Having proper guide placement is important too, as well as having the guides mount in line with spine of the blank. When you buy a rod that comes in the mail and take the word of the manufacture sometimes means you don’t get what you thought you bought. You can wiggle, bend, and shake all you want. Until you put a reel line and lure on; you don’t know what you bought. I will be waiting until you use those rods before I make any purchase decision. Just in case; if you know what I mean.
I picked the xd pro as well on Black Friday, it feels really nice. Have taken it out a few time already and really like it. Cant beat it for the price.
@@DEBOSFishing Update, I've been smoking the bass here in Louisiana. I dont have the winter you do. Rod is flawless. Caught redfish, biggest 29" as well. It could easily sell for way more.
I actually no longer own any Lews stuff because I became a Shimano fanboy but I will say they are the most underrated reel companies they don’t need serviced and they never break down
I’m curious to see how they perform I bought my first the other day the TI series. I’m a Loomis and a St Croix guy but always like to try new things from time to time
To preface this question, I know you said it's hard to recommend rods to people, but I'm gonna ask anyway lol. So I just bought the Ned Rig Kit from Z Man and am looking for a rod/reel combo to use it on. The setup will probably be strictly for my Ned Rigs since I know you need to use lighter tackle. Any suggestions for someone on a budget?
I ended up buying the Speed Spin Combo from Lew's and threw on some 10lb J-Braid with a fluoro leader. Have been snacking them ever since! I fear I'm becoming addicted to the Ned Rig now 😂
I loved the "live talk" with Randizzle and the Halo rods looked very interesting! I have a quick question: I just received my TW order...8 War Eagle Finesse jigs and they look awesome. Can you or Randizzle tell me a good trailer? I am a die hard bank fisherman and thanks to the both of you I am stepping out in 2021 and fishing jigs. Please give me a clue, as always thanks for making me a better fisherman and I will pass this off to my grandkids. Jim
I know, I quit watching every body else and just watch Debo now. He really has our education at heart.

So I just bought the Ned Rig Kit from Z Man and am looking for a rod/reel combo to use it on. The setup will probably be strictly for my Ned Rigs since I know you need to use lighter tackle. Any suggestions for someone on a budget?
How much are you looking to spend?
I ended up buying the Speed Spin Combo from Lew's and threw on some 10lb J-Braid with a fluoro leader. Have been snacking them ever since! I fear I'm becoming addicted to the Ned Rig now 😂
Have you tried the scum launch frog! I really like that one.
Jim
