Whenever you get nice looking old boxes like this it’s always nice to get an appraiser or someone who can check the history of it! It seems old, but still in good condition, hinting at it’s true value (at least quality wise). Who knows, maybe next time you’ll find something cool about it (the value of things like this are often more when left in its original form rather than flipped, clean or not)

You’d be surprised how much an old trunk can be worth. I have a humpback trunk that’s in good condition and has all of the inserts. It’s worth much more as is!
Just to let you know that what you have here is an early carpenter’s box . It was a piece that went with him on every job . It explaining the thick walls and the hand forged handle being do strong . It is sometimes the best thing to get the piece of furniture back into use . A porch table is good to contain things there . 🎄

Sadly, the world has become more of, "If you don't like it, strip and redo," rather than look at it for what it was and how it impacts today. I'm a blacksmith a welder if you want to remove the rest off for me anything you some vinegar with high acid in it you can just remove the hardware let it soak in it or you can spray it on there and wipe it off it'll do the same thing just not as good now it won't shine the metal will give it kind of a doll appearance but it's well worth it
Just like we cry about 70s carpet or 90s popcorn ceiling, I’m confident people will be crying at these Pinterest peeps who thought it was a good idea to cake natural wood with paint (and to install temporally clashing hardware).
Everyone saying that she ruined it doesn't get the point. It's not a national treasure. She didn't turn it into wood chips, she turned it into something she would be able to enjoy and use! In my mind, that's 1000% better than leaving in the garage to rot.

I've seen your work and how much care and love you put into furniture; you make it better and modernize it while still preserving the character of it, which is something that a lot of the internet furniture flippers couldn't say. But even so, in the end it's just a piece of furniture, and it's YOURS so you get to decide how to honor it and use it! Anyway, I thought this chest transformation was incredible and I loved the idea of sealing it before painting it so that the tannins don't seep through the primer. Keep doing what you're doing, you have an amazing talent for this!!💛

I don't understand why the comments are so harsh. I guess u should have checked if it had value before u painted it? It is a perfect rustic cool side table.
She sells it. It's an MLM. Like pampered chef or those nail things. It's a pyramid scheme. Which is why the jars of paint are itty-bitty tiny and they probably sell for $30 a piece. It would take you out least five of those to do the chest that she did. And it looks horrendous. You shouldn't need to seal paint on furniture if it's the right kind of paint. But it's not ever about the product it's just about getting people to sign up to sell it, so the products are usually very cheap and marked all the way up because they have to pay every one of the line in an MLM.

I know this rustic, shabby chic Joann and Chip type furniture and decor is pretty popular but for me it looks like this style makes me feel like I need to get a tetanus shot 🥺

Nope, sorry this one isn't for me. Either the trunk could have been resorted to a beautiful vintage upgraded look. As a table needs thicker legs matching the thick trunk style and a totally different colour or professionally aged. The original colour was wonderful and could have just used an upgrade. You could carve into it or stencil it.... or add some molding to add more character
Your other videosI've seen normally represent quite a nice transformation. I think the original wood looks better on a few of your videos, but the outcome is still nice. This video mask has me think you ruined a decent original piece. The final product looks quite horrible to me.

You're not a designer you're not a furniture refurbisher, I wouldn't use any of these products on actual furniture ever in life.
