The single highest land skin temperature recorded in any year of the study was found in the Lut Desert in 2005 and measured a stunning 159.3 F (70.7 C). Lut had the highest surface temperature in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009 as well.
So this means that Death valley is like going to the beach compare to this.

I have walked out with 53C. Ground temperature doesn't matter when you wear shoes like a normal person. Though I wouldn't even dare to show my face outside if it was 70.7C. I don't have a deathwish. Anything above 40-45 will get you a heatstroke and fast. 53 is almost bearable if you are not an old fart, 70 degrees will kill you and fast.

When she said nearly a hundred years ago she is only a week off.
10th of July 1913 was the hottest recorded day and that is next Wednesday.
However they are measuring the temperature on a scale that only the US uses.
There were no indicators to show the temperature in World scale temperature.
You have to make conversions to compare to standard temperatures.

    I LOVE IT !
    I'm a total heat freak. Maybe I
Have a problem, but triple digit
    temperatures are absolutely
nothing for me. If It's less than
    65, I'm miserable.
I've always wanted to locate in
    D.V. for that reason.
Ironically, my woman is just the
    opposite. She likes real cold
    weather.
How we get along ? Some of
    our time is somewhere like
    British Columbia, while another
    period is the low Sonoran
    desert.
It's a trip, I could wear long under-
wear on the Sinai, she could go
    nude in Barrow.
But, I don't really want to stay too
long on the arctic circle, and
    she'd eventually demand a div-
    orce bakin on the Sahara.

deathvalley national park is an explorers, nature lovers, hikers, offroaders geologist, photographers, old wild west and gold mine buffs paradise it really is the most beautiful, vast interesting, mysterious place on earth and absolutely the best part of california, i grew up in visalia ca, a 5th grade teacher took me and 3 boys, in 1968 in early june with a 1965 amc gremlin hatchback, and 2 dads took a 1963 ford pickup truck there fot 2 days 2 nights we camped right on the gosh dang
desert floor 75 yards from golden canyon trailhead, with just sleeping bags and a pillow it was 132 degrees in the shade at furnace creek and 29 degreea at night, it was fuqing awesome, we had a big bonfire to keep the critters away, the stars at night just amazing the milky way looked 1o feet above your head,, we went to scottys castle, ubeheebee crater the racetrack playa, devils golf course still have a chunk, you ever get a chance to go stay at panamint springs resort or they now have a 100 million dollar 4 diamond resort and restaurant at the place that heat record was taken it has a swimming pool and date orchard with ponds, , and a fuqin golf course with ponds as there is an ancient underground aquifer under the main valley that is ice age water it fills devils hole which is bottomless and charles manson thought there was walls of gold down there, a line of 26,000 feet was dropped into it in the 50's it just kept going they ran outta line, it really is an amazing place but don't go offroading you get lost your fuqed watch the deathvalley germans video and see what not to do in deathvalley national park
