You are so funny and so very poignant, a wonderful quality! Hog Island in Maine is a beacon of hope for seabirds and Atlantic Puffins. They have been successful in restoring populations of Puffins over the last 30 years. I support seabird restoration in Maine. I promise to the Puffin to continue supporting them. If only more of us would.take care of our species and the planet. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Much love to you!
Just simply, thank you for that enjoyable story with an important message. I hoped to see A Puffin when I visited Scotland but sadly did not and I also bought several stuffed puffins for my grandchildren back in Australia ❤️❤️❤️
This was so lovely . . . and if anyone wants to see puffins, go to Nova Scotia's stunningly beautiful Cape Breton Island, to the Bras d'Or and take a puffin boat tour. If you're lucky enough to live in London, the flight to Sydney NS is just a quick hop over the pond. Just don't go to Australia, something a honeymoon couple did some years back!
Here in New Brunswick Canada (eh) the puffins of Machias Island were down to only two lonely and bickering puffins. Happily they now number in the thousands. To see them though is a bit of a chore if you don't have a boat, and with Covid, well, forget it. From Grand Manan Island in NB you take an hour and a half boatride where they give you a brief glimpse through a bird blind. So its probably better just to be happy that their population is rebounding. For those who don't know, the puffin is the official bird of Newfoundland but are found in all atlantic provinces. Here in New Brunswick we are in a decades long fight with our government to stop them aerial spraying of pesticides to kill hardwood trees-which also kills god knows what else. But birds are struggling thanks to climate change and pesticide use (and the Irving Liquified Natural Gas flare off that killed thousands some years ago), so its nice to see some good news on the puffins. The bald eagles also seem to be making some thing of a comeback. We now return you to your previous program on Emily Thomason.
