2 hours to Cleveland and 2 hours to Cincinnati sounds great. Hopefully, the train frequency will be at least every 2 hours train in each of the direction starting at 6am with the last train at 10pm. We can have Chicago style train network here. A matter of time, will and some extra money.
Good point about making the city competitive. If you want to attract younger workers or international companies, they expect infrastructure that is on par with all the other major player cities around the world. That means rail is a necessary component of the overall transportation system.
Why can't they make it faster? It'd be truly advantageous if you could travel from Cleveland to Cincinnati in less than 3 hours. Will it be any easier to implement faster trains after the fact?
Let’s not forget that roads and maintenance of highways is also outrageously expensive. You want Columbus and Ohio to thrive then frequent train service on the 3C&D is a necessity.

I love trains, but this is outrageously expensive for what you get out of it.
