For my purposes it's great. The low profile makes it easy on the back and knees to load and unload. A super reliable petrol engine is well suited to stop-start work site stuff with a good load. No injector and particulate filter diesel issues that my last ute suffered from. Happy to change oil and service every six months knowing it will last for years.
Hi AlGreenLightThroughGlass, Thanks for watching I do appreciate it. @@rabbitskinner I’m sure you’ll like it. Suspension bounces a bit when new but after 6 months of loads it’s settled plus I loaded it with a concrete sleeper from Bunnings when it was empty and that really made a difference.
Hi Watcherw1, Thanks for watching I do appreciate it and feel free to share it with your friends. The Hilux's are great utes. Very reliable and not bad on the fuel provide you drive it nicely. Also they come with all the mod cons you need like Bluetooth radio, a/c power windows and they are comfortable. A great and stable first car that will last you a very long time.
Hi Tim, Thanks for the comment That's what I originally thought but then maybe they had upped the rating so not really good that toyota put the wrong plate on. Sorry about that.

I used to have a 2010 workmate and didn’t seem have have any of the same issues - I hit the accelerator and it went straight away. Thoughts?
Hi Josh, I haven't heard of delayed issues with the engine response in the hilux. Is it a petrol or diesel? If it is petrol you could try better fuel (98) or maybe you need some new injectors, maybe it's the air filter. There is so many things it could be. Also is it manual or auto? Hi Nick, Thanks for watching I do appreciate it and yes they are a good ute and yes I agree not having a centre arm rest is probably cost cutting and I think things like that should be standard across the range for the money you pay for them. Thanks again.
Hi Isxxc. PNG, Thanks for watching and yes they are bumpy a lot. You probably could get a tub and have it fitted if you wanted to do so or you might be able to change the leaf springs in the back to change the ride quality a bit. Thanks again.
You could get a removable canopy made up. I actually got a short one made with front and back sliding windows and and rear door so that I can still fit long loads if I leave the rear door open. I intend to insulate it as well as fit a second roof on it and fit vents on the top so that it will be cool enough for my dog and/or food or other products that I need to keep cool. It has about the same space as the extra cab section and is light enough to slide of using a wood plank. I also have another one which sits behind taking up the rest of the tray but this one is heavy but it can be removed with wind up jacks even with all heavy gear inside. This large one also has sliding windows front and back as well as half doors front and back so that I can remove the small box, slide the large one forward and have front and rear top half doors open so the the dog doesn’t get too hot and I still have good rear visibility. The tie down holes on the tray can be utilised to bolt these canopies down as well.
@@agautomotive thanks for the advise, I’ve looked around and haven’t been able to find anything so far in terms of a tub, if you could find me one I’d pay handsomely for it lol.
Great honest video, would a canvas canopy help make the ride more confortable when the tray isnt loaded, I am wanting to get one but there would be times when not much weight would be in the tray, hence the question.
Hi kayjenkins731, Thanks for watching I do appreciate it and it helps the channel. A canvas canopy would weigh around 70kg's roughly so yes it would add weight to the back end and probably give you a slightly better ride. If you can find a demo one with a canvas canopy at a dealer somewhere, take it for a ride and see how it rides compared to one without a canopy. Thanks again 👍
I don't know much about cars but am looking at buying a new Ute like this one or a Triton. I have always thought Toyota was a better and more expensive car then Mitsubishi but from what I am seeing online for the 2wd workmates range the Triton is about 5k more then the Toyota . Is it because its a better car for this range ?? Which would you buy
Hi Paula, Thanks for watching i do appreciate it a lot. I will tell you my thoughts on both of these and i am not being bias towards either of them The Hilux and Triton are great on and offroad vehicles Hilux is very bumpy around town compared to the Triton but put a load in the Hilux and it settles down a bit. Triton is very comfortable when both empty and full. Hilux Rogue is softer around town empty but costs about 15k more than the GSR Triton Triton is better value for money compared to the Hilux Hilux is a bit old inside compared to the Triton but I guess Toyota use what works. Triton has more saftey features than Hilux. Triton has less power than hilux but it weighs less Hilux can tow 3500kg compared to the Triton 3100kg There is a brand new triton coming out next year (2024) and a new hilux (2025) So i would say go and take both for a good long test drive and see which one you prefer over the other. Hi mate, Wanting to buy petrol over diesel. Whats your thoughts on installing full aluminum canopy prob 200kg and 400kg of tools, will the fuel consumption be 20L per 100kms.
Hi Dan, Thanks for watching I do appreciate Diesels will use less fuel but more expensive and petrol is a lot cheaper and a mate of mine has a petrol ute with a half canopy that weighs around 80-90kgs and also carries a water tank and carries about 400kgs in the back and he gets around 13-15 litres/100km. No worries, glad I could help.
Toyota didn’t put the wrong plate on, towbar is rated 3.5 (which they use on other models) and the workmate is rated 2.5

Thanks for that I thought it did only tow 2.5 ton but they should rectify it when it gets sold. Thanks again.
