Bro why did you take theblackcarguru serious? He doesnt have a car he just reads blogs. I respect his hustle tho he just using youtube to pay for his first build.
I miss my 94. Basic mods: 2.5 inch x pipe cat back with hooker aerochambers, 3.73 tru-trak, 2600 stall 9.5 inch converter, 1.6 roller rockers, 160 thermostat, SSRI intake, great tune. 295/50s in the rear. Need to do the combi valve brake mod and the S10 ZQ8 bump stops too. And the was a rocket. Would take an SRT challenger off the line and a C5 corvette from the roll. The transmission was never right though - really needed to swap in a T56 or a 4L80E. I did some interior work too - astrovan overhead console in my opinion is a must have with the compass and outside temperature.
Nice ride! I've had my 95 for 20 years, second owner. I'm looking to start tearing it down. I'm thinking I'm going to start with all new steering/suspension, front and back, then move on to the rear end just like you mentioned. Thanks for sharing some of your knowledge.
Niko, I like your ride. I too own a 96 unmelested caprice with 5.7L. I bought it from a retired sherrif. It is not a police package but a detective model(which means no pushbar, no spotlights & no anttennas). The car is built for speed & so it can tailgate most scatpacks. Those owners has always asked what's under my hood. I just lift it open & their jaws drop. But anyways, the one thing you failed to mention for those B-body owners require is an external oil cooler. If you don't keep those fluid cool, you may boil the fluids & possibly damage the motor. My advice is go seek a factory oil cooler from a salvage yard & find a good police car(caprice/camaro). The cooler the better I say.
The brakes on my 96 ss are way better then the brakes on my 96 caprice by far..the ride is different also more stiff. Dont need 200 plus..just some smoke and black lines behind in complete comfort tho 🔥
Nice car. I don’t have an SS Impala but I’ve got a 96 Roadmaster. I’m really surprised with this vehicles pep being just a luxury car! It has the LT1, factory duals, and possi rear too. Car has 89k on it. My suspension is very soft though, which is the only downfall.
Niko I got a 95 with a 5.7 I need ta know as much as possible to have mines running nice. I got my top half of the motor redone but I had too cuz it was running bad now it’s ok but still need some updates
Great video, would a 2011 crown Vic drive shaft work for the upgrade? I saw one at the junkyard I want to make sure before I get it and start to replace u-joints and the yoke.
If its a P71 aluminum drive shaft I say go for it. If you check the impalassforum you'll see it's a very common mod & cheaper way to get an aluminum drive shaft
Check out my 3.73s video name of the shop should be on the receipt. And IIRC its th P71 years 98-2011. All P71s in those years should have an aluminum drive shaft I know for sure mine had one.
Got a question why do ppl delete the air box on those cars I see videos but never say what’s the purpose of that I have an 95 impala ss and want to do the same n delete my air box but want what’s the purpose of that 1st n plzz don’t laugh at I’m new too this had my 95 impala ss for about 2 months now n still learning about the LT1 on it
@@nikothevirgo there’s tubes that’s gos on top of the headers on both sides u can put a plug bolt on them n look it up on RUclips I put delete air box on 95 impala ss n there’s a video on it a guy cuts the tubs
@@Raymondcarrillo602 ooohhh ok. Well in my case it was just dead weight I have a 95 so no need to descreen it from the PCM. On my 96 though the pump didn't work & when I deleted it it ran better. I wish I had a more technical explanation of it but that's pretty much it lol. Only downside was the engine light in the 96 but I got use to it. Only people who keep them are guys in emissions states otherwise it's dead weight in my opinion. Any weight saving is great in our cars 💯
@@nikothevirgo I heard u don’t need to reprogram if u delete the air pump on the 95 but on the 96 impala ss u have too reprogram it cuz the 96 has the obd 2 n the 95 has the obd 1 so no need too reprogram on the 95 impala ss so if I delete my air pump it will run better cuz I want to do that n also it looks cleaner with out it too
OK so KnN air filter with a box around it around one side , Borla exhaust with marauder tips, right? Now what about the throttle body spacer is not a good idea
The throttle body spacer is more of a panther body thing lol at least from owning one to owning one of these. I've heard guys with these cars say they're pointless same for a larger throttle body. I guess it's different for the 4.6 engines
I brought a one owner with 100k miles it kept cutting off on me so I took it out and put a Ls in it smh it’s like night and day when I say Its really fast 👀 I did stall fuel system cam and turbo it took me a couple years to build but it’s my baby wouldn’t sell it for nothing 🤦🏽♂️
All in all you get a very very decent car for the money. I had issues with the transmission and axle but honestly I kinda blame that on the fact it sat for months. It wasn't exactly fast but definitely quick for a boat with a 281 it had decent rear gearing (3.42 posi) & it was lightweight for the size ( around 3900 lbs if I'm not mistaken). Had it for 2 years no engine issues whatsoever it never let me down or stranded at all. The trans wouldn't go into reverse & the axle bearing went out & when I went to change it the locking bolt got stripped. Could've just got a trans from a junkyard or got it rebuilt & a rear from the junkyard or a part out but at that time that just didn't fit my living situation unfortunately. Got it for only 2K 146k miles super clean highway patrol car no spotlights & the antenna holes were covered. I'm not sure about the market for them now though I'm sure they're sky high like everything these days 😂
@@nikothevirgo man sounded like a nice ride!!!! Those things are bulletproof!!! My trans went last year paid 1600 at a dealership,These care get beat on ! But I'd definitely mod and race a low mile SS. How i look at it you can either get the most fun out of your car or baby it just for it to get ran into by some goofy 🤣🤣. Plus life hella short 🤷🏿
I babied my 96 DGM for years all stock down to the radio, 60,000 original miles. Long story short got totaled by a guy that fell asleep behind me. Saddest day of my life! 😂. Shout out from East Oakland ca. 🎱👌🏼💯
Go for it! Please do! 🤣🤣🤣 That's what I'm doing down the line. Many people hate the fact these weren't mass produced with a 6 speed that's actually what Jon Moss wanted. You'd be doing your car a great justice & doing what should've been done lol.
I meant to say the tires were pretty hot! 🤣

The LT1 is a beast of an engine. I've always said it, an LS engine is a waste of time.
Fair enough. I have a love/hate relationship with both engines. Nothing beats that SBC sound and they don't look like crap like the LS no plastic
What cylinder heads should I go with and the camshaft. I have the 4.3L I'm not trying to change the motor
Depends on what stall & gears
Crown Vic driveshaft? I didn't know about that
