Fleet quality, coupled with regular maintenance, means these cars could theoretically go forever. I know of a Town Car with over 500k, and NYC cabs (retired NYPD Crown Vics) regularly see 750k+. The NYPD ran them to 300k before auctioning them off.

My dad bought two of them in 96. He gave me one to drive, (as a college student), and put the other one in storage. It had all the dealer prep on it and only had 9 miles. He sold it before he passed away in 2009. I wanted to keep it, but he wanted to let it go. We honored his wish. I drove the piss out of the one I had. It was a great car, till I got rear-ended in a toll booth on the North Dallas Tollway in 2001. Great episode Mike!!!

Mane Killa, my dad drove a 85 Caprice for as long as I can remember as a little boi. But when the '96 SS came out, he was at the dealership to drive his car off the truck in '96. He still owns it today and it has 60,000 original miles. The ONLY thing he's change is the shocks to Blisteins performance. Loved the video. I bought a new 1996 Impala SS in September of 1995. It is stock with only a few minor mods to the exhaust (H pipe and two-chamber Flowmasters). It now has 305,000 miles. The engine and rear end have been replaced. The transmission is original and has never been repaired. My Impala's commuting days are over because I run my own business from home now.
It is now essentially a garage queen that we use to shuttle the grand-kids around.

You might as well say that it was a new car with that little bit of mileage on it😉! My former friend had got the deal of a lifetime on a ridiculously immaculate early/mid 80's Cutlass years ago. It was owned by an elder that had it in storage with other vehicles of his. The elder man's son didn't want the car, so the guy I was friends with purchased it for dirt cheap. The car only had an issue with the material on the interior ceiling that had came loose around the edges by both doors, which was nothing to get upset about. That car was barely driven, coffee brown with cream accents, and ran like Usain Bolt.

Thank you for the great video and review! Wanted a Bubble Impala since the the late 90s. I've owned a lot of cars new and old but my heart is still with the iconic 1990s cars....the ones I stayed up late night as a kid reading about in Car and Driver/Motor Trend mags.
I think its time to get this lazy boy couch with a LT1 V8 strapped to it and live out my childhood dreams.

My new wife asked me if I was going to sell my 96 IMPALA Clone named Klamaxx. And buy a new Red Eye?! I told her to grab her purse. We drove to
Chicago from St.Louis. I took her to lunch in Chicago. She asked me what was going on?! My reply, how many of these cars have ever seen that looks like this one? She stated. None.
I told her that I truly love her. And she turns and looks at me and said. I understand now. When I pick up the kids from school in this car the children friends at school run up to it. Now I get Honey. My SS has a ls engine with a super charger, plus I just added NOS. And to top it off its Lexus pearl white. Women love the look and sound of this car. 305 35 24 in the rear and 265 35 22 in the front dropped with a mini tub. There is no other car like this one on the planet! This car is fast. And when I say fast, I mean fast ! This spring, Air Ride!

My dad had a 94 ss, one of the best cars to ever grow up with if you ask me. Always keept in great shape, never saw a lick of snow and got to take it to prom once back in 2011. Unfortunately he sold it for a mustang (never really got over him for that) but fortunately the car sold to a collector last time I checked. Hopefully one day I can purchase it back.

Awesome video guys, absolutely LOVE this House of Muscle series! Absolutely the point of this where you discuss it's not about what KIND of car you have its the passion you have behind it and how we can all connect as gear heads. As long as you don't think yourself above the "commoners" because of the value of your car we can connect across all kinds of things. Had to let out a little giggle about not selling your cool car for a Dad car too... never underestimate how enjoyable those looks are!

Ive had my 96 for 14 years now and don't plan to let it go...its for kids later on. Mine is just as clean with 88,000 miles, Jon Moss signature in it, and very subtle looking with the same mods in mind, however I kept my stock rims on. My daily is my FJ Cruiser, but I still get happy when I pull the Imp out of the garage from time to time in the summer months. I even passed up a trade for an early 70's vette at a gas station stop....just wasnt gonna happen...lol

I had a black '96 bought in 2000 with 20k miles. Really loved that car, so many little tweaks you could do adding in 9C1 body mounts and front air deflectors (to cool brakes) and high speed wiper etc. it was fun! Now I've got 2006 Charger bought with 20k miles now over 135k and I love that one to death too. Amazing what 10 model years gets you from 260 hp to 350 hp.
